The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

Once again I don't know if the chiefs believe the same.
Everyone keeps saying he took snaps from center in 2010, but every single highlight reel I've seen in 2010 has Geno in a shotgun usually with a multi-receiver spread formation.

If Geno is the best draft pick you've seen, you are clearly either new to football...or very very young.

Sure. Like I said, when I've looked thru youtube for 2010 WVU football highlights, I always see him in a shotgun, not under center. If you know of a link to a game highlights I'd love to watch it.

That makes more sense. I thought you meant EVER seen.

Also doesn't Geno have like a 33% completion rate when snapping under center?

Sources: 49ers still shopping Smith

SmithKC.jpg

The 49ers are talking to teams about a trade for Alex Smith but currently do not have a deal in place, league sources said Sunday and Monday. The 49ers can discuss trading Smith, who had a 104.1 passer rating before suffering a season-altering concussion Nov. 11, but no trade can be finalized until the league year begins March 12.

For the last month, reports have consistently linked Smith to the Chiefs, who have the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and had one of the worst quarterback situations in the league last season. The 49ers undoubtedly have talked about moving Smith to the Chiefs -- and the Chiefs currently may be the top suitor -- but San Francisco will continue to entertain offers until March 12 and perhaps beyond. If the 49ers don't trade or release Smith by April 1, they will owe him $8.5 million.

On Friday, Jim Harbaugh said the top two options were holding onto Smith or trading him. He said it's "unlikely" the 49ers would release the quarterback and insisted the 49ers have plenty of salary-cap space to fit Smith and the other pending free agents, such as safety Dashon Goldson, they are trying to re-sign.

Smith wants to start in 2013, an unlikely scenario as long as he is on the 49ers, who committed to Colin Kaepernick in late November. The 49ers are sensitive to accommodating Smith, who is largely respected and admired in the 49ers locker room, but their top priority is getting a good deal in return for the quarterback, who in 2005 was drafted No. 1 overall.

Cam ****ing failed Gruden's QB camp, and some posters on here greatly prefer him to Geno Smith.

Geno had a bad interview, but he didn't look dumb. Not at all. He understood the play on the board, he just couldn't instantaneously recall it after one quick pass through with Mooch and 5 minutes of time passing.

Those games don't exist.

It's a myth on this board that he played under center.

I watched 3 games from 2010 and he was in shotgun 90% of the time.

He had one touchdown pass off a play action pass under center. Other than that, the only other thing he did under center was hand the ball off to Devine.

Maybe he did it in other games, but I've yet to see any evidence of that. Print or video.
