Here's the next four years:
Smith gets the team to 7-9 next year, fans line up behind him en masse. The team stays 7-9-10-6 for the next three years, fans chase the final piece thinking we're just a CB/G/RT/whatever away. Any attempt to disparage Smith is met with harsh rebuke. Barbecue smoke fills the air and nary a **** is given about the long term prospects.
