Dane, are you saying Alex Smith is going to be a winning QB for the Chiefs?
I'm not making any predictions. I'm stating that most of the posts in this thread and others were made by people that have ever even seen Alex Smith play and hate the trade because he Chiefs decided against a QB the draft.

you've seen EVERYONE play, eh?

I watch more NFL than you do. I just do. I'm single, I'm obsessed, I never work Sundays (for this reason), and I have 10 $$$$ FFL leagues that are LITERALLY the obsession in my life...plus I have a gambling problem.

I've been the most realistic person about Alex Smith on this board.

He's somewhere between Trent Dilfer and Trent Green. Green is his ceiling.

If he hits Green, sure...it may end up being a good trade.

BUT ****ING EXCUSE US FOR NOT BEING HAPPY ABOUT THIS HAPPENING...AGAIN. It's a HOPELESS move for a fan base in DIRE need of HOPE.

what's so tough to get? Or can you not live without drama? Is stirring the pot the only thing that gets you through the day anymore?

I am tired of getting some other teams rejects. We should be drafting our own rejects.

Sounds like a great plan.

"Hey guys, we're going to draft a piece of shit QB, play him for three years in hopes that he's not a complete failure while wasting the final years of Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson. Oh, and we'll continue to run the best running back in franchise history into the ground while we win 4 games a year. K?".

which is fine if we gave up a 4th and a conditional 4th in 2014 that could move up to a 2nd (or even a ****ing 1st if he lit the world on fire)...

not fine for what we *reportedly* gave him...

the dude has limitations that sicken me...it's like, toss a coin and you might get Dilfer, toss it again and you might get Green...toss it again and you'll never get Rodgers

We are going to be doing exactly that with Alex Smith.

We have tried your way for 30 years and it hasn't worked out. I am not a Geno ball washer I just wanted them to identify the best QB out of the bunch and draft that guy.

My way?

I lobbied for Brees in 2001. I lobbied for Sanchez in 2009. I lobbied for Clausen in 2010. I said the Chiefs should have given up every draft choice in 2012 and their first in 2013 for RGIII.

You're ****ing stupid.

Fine then you shouldn't be bitching when we have a real opportunity to get our own QB not some reject from another team.

And if the guy we draft becomes an Alex Smith\Matt Cassel reject who gives a shit we just go draft another one and another one until we finally get it right.

That's just ****ing brilliant logic. "The Chiefs should take a QB #1 because they've got the first pick".

You don't think there are at least 4 QBs in this draft better than Clausen or Sanchez? Any QB drafted in the 1st, or the second, would have been fine.

Bottom line is, it is the same old excuse with the same old results, dictated by Lamar/Clark Hunt. If you can't see this, after this much evidence, you are being stupid and contrary. It is so ****ing obvious, and I have been posting my suspicions of this for a few years now.

I have been a Clark Hunt supporter, even in the darkest of the times, but this is it.

Reid and Dorsey forgoing the opportunity to draft a QB, in favor of a recycled failure from another team again, when their JOBS ARE NOT IN JEOPARDY is clear proof of that agenda and mandate from ownership.

Do you think they will draft one when there is actually some pressure on their jobs? Hell ****ing no they won't, and previous coaches wouldn't even play Stanzi to see what they had, for fear of their jobs.

It is very clear, plain and simple. Win now, get fans in the seats, mediocrity is within reach and achievable. The body of evidence is clear and concise. Believing in a pipe dream and drinking the kool aid at this point is reeruned.

This, this was the draft when a QB had to be drafted, while the honeymoon is still on with Dorsey and Reid. If for some strange reason they end up taking one, which I give a 1% chance, I will be thrilled, but it aint happening.

Why would you or anyone else advocate wasting the #1 overall pick on a Sanchez or Clausen? And no, no one in this draft has the same pedigree as Sanchez or Clausen.

Taking a QB #1 overall doesn't make him worthy over #1 overall.

Furthermore, blaming Dorsey and Reid for egregious mistakes made by their predecessors is ludicrous. If they don't like a guy but draft him to pander to a certain segment of the fan base, they're simply repeating mistakes made in the past, not pushing the franchise forward.
