49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Why? Because the Chiefs apparently don't believe in any of the available college QB's ability to become a franchise QB in the NFL.

So, do you go into the season without a starting QB? Do you "hope" that Matt Moore can push your team to the playoffs? Or do you invest the #1 overall pick, knowing that it's unlikely to yield the results you want but do it anyway?

He's absolutely worth a first round pick, and someone will take him in the top 10.

Dane this is the kind of crap that is applauded at the Jags Forum: And this is from a mod.

"This is clearly a year to draft a franchise offensive tackle. Two of the top three pro prospects are offensive tackles. The NFL Combine confirmed that NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl were exactly right about Eric Fisher. Post-Combine, Mayock believes that Eric Fisher may be the Chiefs choice, or at least the choice of a team trading for their top pick.

Nobody believes in Geno Smith any more. He skipped the Senior Bowl, perhaps to leave the impression that he was already in contract negotiations with Kansas City. The Chiefs deserve a lot of thanks for exposing Geno Smith, who was forced to admit he had NOT met with Kansas City front office people, or even met Andy Reid in interviews.

I like Joeckel or Fisher. Either player at the second over-all.

QB's are not created equal, nor are they created in a laboratory, nor is their any guarantee that you can turn a mediocre player into a superstar by drafting him in the first round.

If the best QB in the draft has a ceiling of being a backup QB (as people have mentioned about Barkley), why would you spend a first round pick on him, let alone, #1 overall?

Right, because the big time media guys never talk up mediocre QB options for teams every year. See Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb and Matt Cassel just to name a few. For some reason media tends to undervalue young prospects but over-values re-treads in this league.

I have a question. What black QB in Reid's offense never ran? Hint? The number of women I've slept with. I think Reid thinks Geno should run more since he's black. And since he doesn't, he automatically was disqualified. I bet yall take Manuel because he fits the bill that Reid expects.

Mocking him?

Those people are "mocking him" at #1 overall because the Chiefs had a need at QB, so they placed him with the Chiefs.

Mock drafts are not indicative of talent or ability. They're crossword puzzles that people like to "win".
