49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

EJ can definitely throw beyond 10 yards. The problem is he's not an accurate passer, can't read a defense, and cracks under pressure. No thanks.

If you want. Im not sure at what point you want to include, work ethic, mental stability, leadership qualities into your equation of needing to find ways to make excuses. And me stating that in reality talking about anything prior to Jim Harbaugh, and more importantly Trent Baalke, and Jed York assuming leadership in the 49ers front office, is far more relevant and probably more indicitive of future production from alex smith, than anything prior.

Alex Showed that under solid coaching, and the 49ers showed under a great front office that they can be productive. So why anyone would try to hold prior to that against anyone is beyond me. Question: how many starting QBs in the NFL would you take Alex Smith over?

If you can't name at least 16 QBs, then Alex Smith isn't a good QB.

We'll have to trade down in the 1st. Then again Reid did pick McKnabb at #2 so he could just go ahead and pick his guy. If you believ a guy can be your franchise QB you get him. I'm not saying it would be what I want either. I'm just saying.

Dallas (romo is a turnover machine)

Panthers, (cam is a head case)

There is no sortable to narrow that stat down, so you have to count. Forgive if human error put me +1 or -1 in either direction, but you get the gist.

Obviously, there are guys that are going to have better numbers if they played on teams that lit the scoreboard up. Tom Brady has something like a 31-31 record in this column because he's had both good defenses and great offenses. Some teams rely on good defense and don't build their teams to win by outscoring the opponent in a shootout. Alex Smith has played on one of those teams for his entire career. Hell, look at Eli's numbers. That's a HORRIBLE stat line...no one would bitch if we brought him in. I'm not saying that Alex Smith is half of what Eli Manning is, but I'm pointing out that this stat is more of a reflection of the way that the team is built, rather than the quarterback.

Maybe this will shut some people up.

probably not, because the fact that alex smith was playing phenomenal football this year, both on film and on paper, with his 70 % comp and his second to only kaep ypa, 104. qbr, and 70 qbr espn rating making him 7th overrall hasnt done it, nothing else will. If in their mind alex smith is a bum, hes going to be a bum, no matter what he does.

If he took the chiefs to the super bowl, it will be the defense, the special teams, or andy reid coddling him. There is nothing that alex smith is going to do, that is ever going to be good enough. Trust me, i have seen it.

I have Glennon as the lowest due to his skillset. IMO, he's a classic Coryell-passer and isn't the best fit for Andy's offensive philosophies.

I rewatched the majority of Barkley's games from 2011 after initially having him 4th at the end of the season behind Wilson and Nassib. While he struggled this year (despite what his overall statistics might argue), his film from 2011 was excellent in several regards. He's intriguing, because one has to determine whether he's A) reached his ceiling B) Can overcome his arm strength limitations (if I'm a dome/warm weather team, I'd consider snagging him early even if I didn't have a "pressing need" cough, cough, Texans).

Nassib has IMO the 2nd best (behind Geno) pocket presence/ability to move, reset, slide, shrug and complete throws while still looking down the field. I like his release as well; over the top, snappy, quick. He struggles on touch throws down the field as well as providing his receivers soft catachable balls in the short areas (He throws rockets short). Now, NFL WRs will be able to help mitigate the latter part but it is still something that needs to be addressed, as well as the first part mentioned.

Manuel is intriguing as well but I haven't really watched nearly enough film to have a yes/no opinion. From what I've seen through 3 games, he seems to have solid mobility/speed, is strong, has a solid arm, and has decent accuracy. I really just haven't watched enough of him to state more than that.

I liked glennon because he most resembles nick foles to me.

Just taller.

I understand both point of views but people against Smith will point out facts/stats to help their point and ignore stats like these

Jets
Bills
Jags
Browns
Cards
Vikings
and maybe the Eagles.

Alex Smith is not better than Rivers, Palmer, Bradford, Schaub, Newton or Romo.
