How many more excuses does Matt Ryan need to prove he's "elite", as some have stated in this thread? And what makes all these people so absolutely certain that Ryan would have been the better choice than Long? Ryan's had five full seasons to prove that he can put his team on his back and will them to victory. So far, that hasn't happened. |

FWIW I don't know if Matt Ryan will ever win a Super Bowl. He's not the best QB in the league, and he needs help on defense big time.
Thus far Tom Brady hasn't been able to win shit without a defense, Manning couldn't either. That being said, had Miami taken Ryan Sporano would still be around, hell, big tuna might be too. Mike Smith would have been fired in Atlanta, and Dimitroff would be another Patriot Way failure. |

One look at the 2012 Dolphins should be proof of that fact. I'm surprised that they won as many games as they did. |

Because you cherry picked 90 minutes of football out of a five year career.

Smith has proven to be a decent coach. Sparano was crap in Miami and was worse with the NY Jets. Parcells just wanted a paycheck and really didn't give a shit. |

It seems like you're putting Jeff Ireland on a Matt Millen, dane. I'm not calling him a good GM by any means, but he has made some decent moves.

People do make that argument about the Falcons, and it's because of Ryan. He's completely changed the way that franchise is viewed. Prior to his arrival the franchise had never had 2 winning seasons in a row. That's 9-6. Never. Now all they do is win, and they finally got the playoff monkey off their back this year. Still not the top team in the NFC, but they are a great team. |

Where it matters. But I guess where you're from, it's called cherry-picking. Steve DeBerg was amazing one year in KC, too. |

And that's been my point all along. No one can unequivocally state that Matt Ryan would have produced any more wins that Jake Long because the franchise is ****ed.
AustinChiefs chimed in with that as well. Quote:
He's been a good regular season QB but hasn't performed in the post season. I can easily give him a pass his rookie season as a playoff QB but regardless of whatever statistic you or Saul or Queen drag up, the bottom line is that he couldn't score against the Giants and he couldn't score in the second half against the 49ers. |

In the SF game, Ryan put up 400 yards and 3 TDs.

Matt Ryan compares to Alex Smith but Alex Smith doesn't compare to Matt Cassel.
Dane logic.
