We're overpaying for ancillary parts like platoon TEs, run-stuffing 5-techs and backup QBs. I understand that you have to overpay in FA, but this is half-assed, wrong-headed overpaying that will yield very little return.

i think im just shocked by this one having heard about Tony Moeaki being this saving grace TE thanks to CP, I thought they would never just knock him down a few pegs like this.
After all we traded up for Moeaki and picked him before Jimmy Graham, surely he is worth a shit. |

Fasano is going to be one of the best free agent signing's we've had in years. The guy is going to be utilized a ton in this offense and he's going to go HAM out there.

The funny thing is that Moeaki really was pretty good over the 2nd half of the season; probably better than Fasano would be.
So either they're resigned to never having a 'healthy' Moeaki or they're just so damn worried about his injuries that they're willing to overpay for his insurance policy. Because if they've looked at Moeaki and decided he can't be a very good player when healthy, well that's just wrong. For the last 1/2 of the season, he looked almost as good as new. So are we giving up on a guy who's 2nd half figures put him on pace for 600 yds receiving despite a shit QB and a recent knee injury? Or are we paying for a $4 million backup. Oh, or are we going all copycat again and trying to put together an offense heavy on 2 TE sets despite the fact that Reid has never utilized one. This just isn't an area where an overpay is a good idea. Nor is backup QB. Nor is a 1-trick pony of a run-stuffer.

lmao, the fanbase of a 2-14 team celebrating the signing of an average TE at 4.5 mil per.
I thought Dorsey said he wanted to build via the draft? I guess we're gonna use Fat Andy's "overpay for everyone the first week of FA" style instead? It worked so well in Philly the last 6 or so years. |

Additionally, they NEED to spend cap money. They need to change the perception of the Kansas City Chiefs as being cheap and unconcerned with winning. That starts by bringing in solid, respectable, veteran players, retaining your best players and attempt to build a consistent, winning franchise. You don't do that by low-balling the Mike DeVito's and Anthony Fasano's of the world. Otherwise, you're stuck with Pituatoa and Jake O'Connell. |

Fasano is an accomplished receiver, as is Moeaki when he's healthy. I don't see the problem. |
