I was surprised they kept him benched after he was cleared to play. CK gave the geam an added dimension and it was a bold move that paid off. Smith is a starting QB in the NFL, if not here, somewhere else. He's not top ten, he's middle of the pack, but a solid starter.

This isn't the 90s anymore. Middle of the pack doesnt win SB's.

I think Flacco is middle of the pack.

I don't. He's in the top 10.

Alex Smith is more like 15-20.

Well, the Chiefs just went from QBs ranked in the 35-45 range. If Flacco is top ten its low top ten. Five or six spots from Smith.

QBs that are better than Flacco (in no particular order):

1. Brees
2. Rodgers
3. Brady
4. Manning
5. Manning
6. Newton
7. Griffin III
8. Stafford
9. Ryan
10. Roethlisberger

More QBS that I could easily argue are better than Flacco:

Luck
Rivers
Romo
Cutler

Kaepernick and Flacco are both middle of the road, in my opinion.

The fact that 3 of the last 4 QBs left in the playoffs this year were not top 10 QBs quelled a lot of the talk going on around here about the necessity of having an elite QB/the league being an "elite QB league" ...

Edit: I am not an Alex Smith apologist. I still hate the trade. I believed that we could win with Geno this year, in fact.

You don't give a middle of the pack QB 20 mil/season.

Sure you do. If you're middle of the pack QB had an amazing post season and won the SB.

Middle of the pack is not an insult, they are good QBs

No, you don't. Like Hamas mentioned many people are confusing fantasy football numbers with real world value. Flacco is a top 10QB and Smith if likely bottom 10.

I'm not. Believe me, no one knows the NFL isn't about stats than me. This isn't baseball. Is Flacco the same QB that before the 2012 season was most likely going to be a FA, and people were Luke warm on? Is he a new QB? Maybe. If so, we know you can up your game in the middle of your career.
