Alex Smith: Chief's aren't running a "Cookie-cutter" offense

Q? FO!

From NFLNetwork byline:

QB Alex Smith tells NFL Total Access that Chiefs aren't running "cookie-cutter" offense and it isn't the same as what coach Andy Reid ran with Eagles and Packers. Catch the entire interview tonight at 7PM ET on NFL Total Access.

If i'm not mistaken, they were doing just hurry up offense and it's only QBs and rookies. My guess is it was as vanilla as you're going to get.

He isn't at camp yet, iirc, and if I heard right he was talking throughout the entire preseason. Again, I was halfway listening so take it fwiw, but I'm thinking ault is more there to work with the defense.

Based on what we know (outside of closed doors), Alex Smith ran a few sets out of the pistol in OTAs and Reid was going to have Childress work with Ault in the offseason. You might be right that Chili's main interest may be in finding just tiny wrinkles for the offense, but in really understanding defensive implications. I guess we'll see soon.

But again, given the way Ault spoke passionately about the pistol working even with a non-mobile QB, I'd have to imagine he's telling Childress to consider it, even if as a non-read option.

Someone might want to define "does well".

Christ, people think he did well in SF throwing for under 200 yards a game.

We win games because of him, not in spite of him.

End of discussion.

Either way, I like the innovation of bringing him in. Like the 9ers bringing in whats his name to work with the offense, when he's actuallly a defensive guy.

If Andy Reids offense is anything resembling what it has been, I think it will be obvious what the problem is.

Although, after reading about what zilla has been talking about, I'm becoming more intrigued.

I don't think so.

It was pretty easy to tell in 2010 what was going on. Cassel was a nightmare until that small stretch in the season's second half.

At minimum, we need "Casshole rapes the NFC West" level of play for Alex Smith to be considered as "playing well."

Hell, that's a terrible comparison. Cassel didn't play well, he dumped the ball off to guys who racked up a metric ****ton of YAC against piss-poor defenses.

So you are saying I should not have started this thread?

Given the amount of discussion about Reid running the same offense he ran in Philly, I thought it was pretty significant.
