Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.
It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

We don't have a Jets training camp thread where insta-reactions flow like milk and honey, so my Geno reaction should be taken seriously.

Bad day for Geno, but he probably learned something from it. I'm positive he will take this poor day of practice and improve on it.

Sorry but my chubby for Geno just went completely limp when he was drafted by the Jets. That's almost as bad as getting drafted by Oakland (but not quite). Sometimes you can just tell what's gonna happen based on the teams. Oh, and there's also the opinion I have molded over time, and that is that Geno Smith is kind of a ****ing idiot.

I think the Jets are a quality franchise. They've been to the AFC Championship in recent years. That's hardly Raidersesque.

Totally. I 100% agree.

And there's nothing wrong with looking at past results as a predictor for future success. But it isn't ironclad. It isn't definitive.

The problem is that you like to make really bold, really declarative statements that will either A) come true and you look smart, or B) be wrong and are buried amid 35,000 other things you post a day.

Either way, it creates discussion and argument and gives the forum an antagonist which is useful during offseason lulls.

But it's just frustrating at times and becomes exhausting. Especially when you know damn well that Alex Smith is a massive upgrade from Cassel. He's not elite. He might even just be barely average. But Cassel was absolutely, without question, one of the worst starting quarterbacks we've ever seen.

I'd rather have Damon Freaking Huard than Cassel. That's right. I'd rather have an idiot with a noodle for an arm and a vagina for a face.

So, rail against the chiefs for not taking a QB. Rail against them for giving up too much. Rail against the retread SF quarterback. God knows I have. But keep it legitimate and within the realm of reason.

Eh, Raiders were in the SB a decade ago. Christ it doesn't seem that long ago. **** I'm old now.
