This game tonight is going to be a major, major glimpse into what we can expect.

You know that Harbaugh wants to ****ing shut down Alex Smith. He has a massive ego and needs to be right about replacing him.

The reverse is true for Alex.

If the Chiefs come out and get monkey stomped with Alex throwing a couple INTs, then we should probably be hoping for 8-8 at best. If they go up three scores on a Super Bowl favorite, then I think there's legitimate reason for hope.

I know it's only the second preseason game, but I think it's foolish to believe both of these teams aren't going in wanting to win. Teams have a lot of pride in their QB, and they will all want to win it for their guy.

At least the first half. As long as the starters are in, I think it's going to be regular season football.

You are over estimating Jim Harbaugh. jim has never cared what people feel, and doesn't feel the need to prove anything to anyone. Jim isn't going to set out to make an example out of Alex Smith........hes not that important to Jim.

Oh I think he cares, but a pre-season game isn't the place for it. He has a larger agenda and busting his load to get a win in a meaningless isn't what he'll do. The 9ers will play vanilla. More, I expect Harbaugh to pull the starters if the game goes more than a td one way or another... unless he and Reid have come to some sort of agreement, which I seriously doubt.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
