Final thoughts on preseason

This team just looks better. Just all around, even our suck is better than our suck in years past. You can tell we have a staff of coaches that know wtf they are doing. It's refreshing as we haven't seen that since the DV days when you get to it.

Obviously we haven't played a meaningful down yet and you can tell that there is room to improve but I think everyone is getting the sense that we are doing just that, improving. Worst to first? Most likely not but in this division it may not be unreachable.

Offense:
Running game looks rather weak but we were without JC against SF and went against the Steelers the next game. 2 very, very good defenses. So is our running game that bad or were we facing good defenses? Probably some of both.

Smith is going to be the proverbial game manager and if his preseason is any indication of what is to come that can suffice for now. His throws are accurate and receivers aren't jumping, reaching, diving, or sliding to catch passes ala Cassel. Don't turn it over, control the clock, rest the defense. That is a winnable recipe even if it is a boring one.

Tyler Bray......kid is going to be good in 2-3 years. If he pays attention to who he is learning from, we are going to have a bad ass QB.

Defense:
Its on! This defense is getting after it and though it may be a feast or famine defense, it's obvious that the days of Romeo's read-react defense is gone. This is attack, attack and attack some more. I think Poe and TJax are going to take big steps in the right direction this year.

Special Teams:
What can you say? They looked awesome all preseason long.

I see shades of Marty ball coming with a ball control offense, relentless defense and strong special teams. We just replace the power running with dinking and dunking in the passing game.

Seeing that Alex can actually lead a TD drive was nice, though. So, 7-9, perhaps.
Yeah but its hard on secondarys when you have a QB like Ben that can extend plays. He did that a few times on us. He was playing well. I'm not saying it will be perfect, but we'll be fine on D i believe

No signs of that in preseason.

Not one single completion traveled over 20 yards in the air.

If they don't improve, Charles will only be effective out of the backfield, slot or WR which is good he can play all those spots but there ain't going to be any Charles Jets taking off between the tackles or on sweeps I'm afraid.

They clearly improved over the course of 4 (okay, 3 really) games and nobody key was injured. That's about as positive as a preseason can be.

I'm really interested to see how they look running the actual gameday systems on both sides of the ball.

Was Trent Green seen as really impressive early in his KC career? No.

There is a reason and to 'Iowanian's point' about the O-line. I think Reid sees the O-line still is a work in progress and he doesn't want to get his QB killed.

It is SO easy to be negative about the Chiefs. No risk.

If you're wrong, big deal. That means they might actually be good and all you have to say is, 'I'm glad I was wrong'.

Pussies.

Agree here.

Sounds like Kielce is a minor thing tonight too so that's good.

Hell our 3 and 4 stringers looked decent and better than the packers tonight. That hasn't happened in a while

Problems on offense: short yardage conversions between the tackles and obviously the home run pass.
