I studied tape on all the QBs and I thought Bray was the best. You guys that wanted Wilson,Barkley or Geno need to own it.
You also wanted Te'o number 1

Bray looked good. it was against the tier 3 players, but he dominated. Can't ask for much more. And, he looked 100 times better than Chase Flutie.
Physical skills are through the roof with him. When he gets his head around the game, he has a chance to become really good.

no one would even burn a 7th to ensure they got him, why?

because he has a big arm and almost no discernible NFL talent that could be found on tape from mechanics (throws like a sidearm pitcher) to accuracy to decision making...plus he was a world class douche, and that's why you end up a udfa

i'm stoked we grabbed him, i'm glad he dominated 3rd stringers in the 4th preseason game (seriously, that's a good sign, you should look good among lessers), and I hope he doesn't play a snap this year

but I woke up to read in this thread that 'his upside is marino' and 'no one in next year's class has more talent' and realized we're going to have people claiming we don't need to draft a QB next year because of Bray the UDFA...and that is scary
That is an acceptable trait at those positions, not QB. No one has really ever questioned his talent that I could read from anywhere, it was always maturity. I can almost promise that had he matured some and came out in the 2014 draft he would not be an UDFA. He would be in the discussion as the top QB taken. He might not be the next Marino, but to think at this point a third round QB in next year's draft (which currently does not look very impressive) would be better than him is foolish currently.

I'll have to watch this game again. I do remember some good throws, but I also remember some poor decisions, unnecessary sacks taken, and some poorly placed passes.

As can be expected from a rookie QB getting his first significant playing time of the season.

Oh, for sure. Bray has the arm and has shown some potential to be optimistic over. Still, the way some are talking, he was amazing and without flaw.

yeah, there were a few 'wtf' moments. but, just from a physical standpoint / relying on his strengths, he looked really good. I'd like to fast forward 2 years and see what he would look like.

plus, fast forwarding, would save me pain and suffering

his talent is in question in every scouting report ever written about him

his 'talent' is the reason he was a udfa...talent doesn't mean 'big arm,' it means knowing how to play QB and doing it well with excellent technique (which he possess almost none of)

if there weren't talent questions, he would have been drafted....hilariously shitty college QBs have been drafted

Hehe... nah.. you will have plenty to enjoy this season and next.. unless you happen to be one of those that wants KC to tank for some awfully twisted reason. Give it more time... enjoy the ride, and if Bray is as good as you think? Then you will have good seasons that lead to great seasons.

That's true in December after the Belcher fiasco I wanted a replacement. I still believe Teo will be an all pro. If you watched tape of Bray he threw receivers open. That's what good NFL QBs do.

Ah SNR weighs in with his usual insight. Care to own your own predictions? Like Geno Smith in the 1rst? Or that awesome TE in the 6th? I kind of agree with ya on Rhodes and Wheaton both look like keepers. Just own it. Smith(Geno) is gonna be a flop! Oh yeah ,Sticks n Stones may break my bones.

Bray definitely showed off the things that make him intriguing: His arm strength is impressive and he CAN be accurate.

It's consistently taking advantage of those tools that is the issue with him. He played a lot of games in college where he would look like a future top overall pick for a quarter or a half, then look like, well, an undrafted FA guy for the rest of the game.

There's also the maturity/leadership/work aspect of things, which are probably the biggest concern with him.

His inconsistent accuracy can be cleaned up with better mechanics (and coaching him up to maintain those mechanics and not backslide in tough situations). The other stuff... that's all up to him making those changes personally and sticking with them.

I'd hope they can find a QB they WANT to invest a high pick in next season, though the class looks pretty weak beyond Bridgewater (plenty of time for guys to rise and fall). Competition is usually a good thing for a guy with talent but work ethic/maturity/etc. issues... forces them to either keep working hard or fall behind.
