Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

That gif of Smith wasn't asshole, that was narcissistic.

I understand that it was your first win as a pro after you battled the incumbent and media all preseason long and it was a big deal, but you won that game on a goddamn cheap penalty and a kick.

A little more humble might be in order versus standing on a chair in a Jesus Christ pose.

A lot of guys do that self-deprecating "am I good or what" kind of thing after something happens to them that could be construed as lucky or unlikely. Based on the comments I heard after the game, I don't think he thinks he walks on water or anything. To me, it just looked like he was screwing around after an exciting win.

Edit: It's not like he said he graded out perfectly after the game or anything.

The Center you are a little tough on. Goodwin was signed for his experience but he is still OK physically. Just looks much worse next to Iupati.

2011 Power Rankings

26. 49ers

Braylon Edwards was probably supposed to be the WR in the role Moss played. Outside guy.
Crabtree's foot was a problem again and was unable to practice.
Josh Morgan had shown himself at least a competent WR.

Braylon got hurt in week 2. Out a month. Was in a few games after that and then was cut for performance or whatever issues with the team.

Josh Morgan broke his leg in week 5.

Crabtree you hoped would emerge in his 3rd year.

He was still up and down in 2011. Forced into the #1 WR role while he is not that prototypical guy didn't help and to be kind he comes across as not the smartest guy so probably not quick to pick up the offense.

Vernon Davis quiet year is more on both him and the coaches. Vernon never developed into a natural TE but even still what he can do in the passing game wasn't implemented enough.

A team with that level of question with the pass targets is gonna have issues no matter the QB.

And Frank Gore is a great back but he is a grinder.

He is not like Jamaal Charles or McCoy or AP who can cut the throat of a defense or flat out dominate.

Look at the final power rankings in 2011. GreenBay and New Orleans were still the top 2 NFC teams.
Overstated.

Interesting you bring up Crabtree. Funny how he "emerged" once he got a new QB. He also "emerged" with Troy Smith a lesser QB. I hope for your sake that Smith plays well because if he doesn't...the excuses will be magical.

You put down everyone around Smith but then refuse to view him with the same critical eye.

Not in your first NFL game that you won due to a penalty and kick.

It's showboating for no other reason than showboating.

You see Brady or Manning or Montana or guys like that doing it?

And he's doing it after a penalty and kick win the game.

Not cool.

For every yin there is a yang. You do see Kaep flex the guns and Rodgers strap on the title belt to celebrate.

He was standing on the bench trying to see the game winning field goal.

Then his teammates came over to congratulate him, and started worshiping him for some reason.

There's nothing douchey about it. He didn't climb up there to showboat.

Not really.

Geno threw the ball down the field.

Geno had ZERO running game.

Geno actually had to do something in pressure packed situations to win. Twice.

This thread is going to be epic if the Jets win tonight. I just hope there is never a single penalty against the Patriots or else people will be saying the game was given away.

He took 5 sacks too.

His only td drive was set up by his defense. So that doesn't count right?
