Difference between Smith and Cassel? No question. Smith is light years beyond Cassel. In pretty much every way I can think of.

It doesn't matter, really. Reid obviously didn't like any of the touted college QBs, and went with a guy he thought he could win with, and so far is 2-0 with that guy. There are better QBs in the league than Alex Smith, no doubt, but among available options, Reid chose Alex Smith.

The Dorsey/Reid/Smith regime has already won as many games this year as we won all of last year. It's hard for me to get worked up over the fact that Alex Smith may not have what it takes to win in the playoffs if none of the other QBs available had what it takes either.

If anything he reminds me of Green.

Willing to do anything for a 1st down. Holds the ball too long. Has the arm to make all the throws just not sure if/when he should make them. Has yet to develop confidence in his WR's.

Some of this will get better with time. The more he learns to trust his WR's the better he'll be...
