Except for the first play, they drove down the field most of the game. They drove the length of the field two times in a row on us and the game would have been tied at halftime if Fuller didn’t make that pick at the back of the end zone. After halftime, they drove down the field on us the same way they did when Berry was in there.

Again, we don't have to mow teams down. But vs SD, Den, AZ, SF we had 10 out of 16 three-and-outs. 12-out-of 16 six-and-outs or less. That's 63-75%. And again the common theme is this level of ineffectiveness happens as soon as we start pumping the brakes. Surely you don't think our offense is that incapable of moving the ball.

I don't know the exact answer. I'm just asking you to acknowledge the problem exists. The majority of the games, as soon as we're up 10 we become a 3-and-out machine. I personally believe we should play leads like they're 0-0 games instead of trying not to lose.

We're not talking failure to score. We can't even get first downs in these situations. If we're good enough to build a commanding lead in the first half, why are failing to convert a first down on 2/3 of those drives?

If we somehow blow the first round bye, on like seven consecutive miracles for the Chargers going back to the Pitt game and before, it will be a very Chiefy thing to do.

Because doing what you're asking them to do is potentially the fastest way to let teams back in a game.

If you're scoring on 25-37% of drives, I'd say that's probably good enough.

If we can score on 25-37% of drives, then there's no excuse to be scoring on 5% of drives where we have a lead (or whatever the # is).

If you think the "protect the lead" strategy works, that's your prerogative. At least you're acknowledging that the Chiefs are totally changing their offensive approach when we have a lead. Again, I'm not talking about gunning 50 yard passes. Just keep doing the same things you did the first half that got you the lead in the first place.

I think it's a shitty strategy when you can't trust your D and you think you can get away with that against a playoff QB like Rivers, Brady, Watson, or Brees. And I know I'm not the only one. If we're going to be a 3 and out machine and hand the ball back right away anyway, I'd rather go down swinging.

Maybe they are and the defense stops it?

You've lost your mind. You are basically expecting the Chiefs to play an entire game perfect on offense every week....not happening. Look at the ****ing Saints lately...

Again, KC is THIRD ALL TIME in scoring.

Then we need to get on Andy Reid's ass for not making offensive adjustments.

I just don't buy it. Again, we consistently find ways to score when we're clawing in the 2nd half. New England, Baltimore, LA Rams. Don't you find it a little weird that we make adjustments when we're clawing, but we can't make adjustments when we're winning big?

I don't think that's a coincidence. It's a pattern. Teams aren't adjusting to us. We're adjusting to situations, and we're not doing a good job of it. Maybe the answer isn't attacking. I just know whatever we're doing ain't working, and bad QB play on the other side to close games ain't always going to bail us out.

They moved it at will against the Ravens? Consistently? Nah.

They did against the Rams and the Pats. Sure. Worse defenses.

You're saying they are going to short passing games once they get big leads?

This isn't about KC not scoring.

It's about KC not getting first downs predictably in the same exact situations - we have no problem moving the ball when we're behind, tied, or a little up. We can't buy a first down to save our lives when we're winning by 2 scores. Consistently. That is clearly not a talent issue, that is clearly our situational playcalling.

This is simply not true and its been pointed out nuerous times that Sutton has changed things up in games frequently this season.

He changed things against the Chargers in the second half and it backfired.

I don't know. I'm just acknowledging the pattern exists. And it's not entirely because of the defenses we face. We flat out look like a different offense in those situations. Our players, our playcalling, everything.... I have my guesses why.

Im not simply looking forward to next year because I still think this years team has a shot, but damn man I didnt expect to be here at this point.

If we lose in the playoffs it will be disspointing but I'm still going to be pumped, this was year 1 of Mahomes. He isnt going to fall off some cliff. We will be going into next season with the best QB in football again. Thats never happened in KC.

We will field a decent defense behind him sooner than later and its going to be awesome. Berry has the ability to make that happen THIS season.
