We need a simple three-question test to ward off bandwagon fans.

We know what's going to happen. A bunch of 'patriots fans' and 'broncos fans' and 'packers fans' and 'steelers fans' are going to start buying Chiefs stuff and pretending that they're one of us. We need a way to identify these people quickly. I propose that we develop a standard three-question test that we administer to determine whether we're dealing with an actual Chiefs fan versus a bandwagon fake fan.

The questions need to be questions that a person of any age can answer, so they probably shouldn't be about obscure events of the far past. And they need to be questions that a somewhat casual Chiefs fan could answer even if they're not a hardcore fan like us.

I propose the following. Let me know if you can answer them, and whether you're a legitimate fan or a bandwagon fan. We can adjust the questions if they're too easy or too hard. You can also propose alternatives.

My three proposed questions are:

1. Name at least two Chiefs players who died during their playing career.

2. In the final 2017 preseason game against the Titans, Patrick Mahomes II completed three long passes to this receiver, including an epic rollout that many believe to be his formal unveiling. Who was the receiver?

3. What two teams did Joe Montana's Chiefs defeat in the 1993 playoffs?

I feel that any legitimate Chiefs fan will know the answer to these questions, though I wonder if Q2 is a little too difficult. Thoughts?

My plan is that any time a person comes up to you and starts talking Chiefs, you administer this quiz to determine if they're worthy of your time or not.

I would tend to agree...that one hit pretty hard. I knew KC was going to shit the bed in 2003 and the 2006 loss was just flat embarrassing. Ty Law intercepted the ball and took it to the 1 or 2, and KC came away with zero points. No first downs until late in the 3rd. 2013 was, well, because Chiefs...

Rainman your question #3 is too difficult. I remembered Oilers, but not Steelers. I would bet most Chiefs fans couldn’t answer without looking up, and virtually none under the age of 40.

3. What two teams did Joe Montana's Chiefs defeat in the 1993 playoffs?

Steelers
Oilers

1. Name at least two Chiefs players who died during their playing career.

Joe Delaney
Stone Johnson
Derrick Thomas
Mack Lee Hill

I do think the best question would be.....

Where did the Kansas City Chiefs start out as?

Never lived in KC, so I don't know number 1, but I remember the other 3 well. In fact number 3 was a 76 ( not 75) yard run against the stupidly aggressive Buddy Ryan's Cardinals. He faked, but it more that the defense was way out of position, with nobody to offense's right...

So, 2: Marc Boerigter on bomb to right side from Trent Green.
3: Steve Bono, 1995.
4: Dante Hall.

Obviously is stupid. You can google these.

You need an opinion based answer.

Like " Why was it good that John Dorsey was fired"

Or

Besides 2018 Pats, What was your most heartbreaking Chiefs playoffs loss?

I believe the X Factor guy he’s referring to is the fan that used to (and possibly still does) dress up for the games. I think the guy has had some battles with substance abuse and there’s even a YouTube video of him somewhere with him acting all meth’d out.

I feel like some of the questions in this thread even the person asking them had to ****ing google the answer. There are some straight up jeopardy questions in this ****ing thread.

Even then I couldn't answer a lot of these questions. It wasnt until mid to late 90s where I was actually old enough to start remembering shit. The first QB i can actually remember is Grbac and being really ****ing pissed when they went back to him in the playoffs after Gannon got us there. I was ****ing 10 and I was sitting there like...

2. Who is the only Chief to lead the NFL in receiving yards for a season? I never remember any Chief winning. Trick question?

3. Which Chief holds the record for most receiving yards in a game? Stephone Paige

Those with 2 answers:

1. Before Patrick Mahomes, who were the only two Chiefs QB’s to win playoff games since winning Super Bowl IV? Joe Montana and Alex Smith

2. Name the only 2 teams the Chiefs beat in the 2012 season? Not a clue

3. Name the only 2 teams the Chiefs beat in the 2008 season? I know we beat Oakland just can't remember who else

And those with 3 answers:

1. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs who led the NFL in rushing yards in a single season? Christian Okoye, Kareem Hunt, Priest Holmes. Everyone assumes Jamaal Charles has at least one rushing title but he does not.

2. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs defensive and special teams players who won games in 1995 with walk off TDs? I gotta really think to name anyone on this question: The only ones that come to mind are Tamarick Vanover and Dante Hall but not sure I have the years right. I can't remember but i thought Dan Saleaumua had a fumble recovery for TD that won a game. That's all I got.

3. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs special teams players who scored TD’s in a playoff clinching win against the Steelers to put the 1986 Chiefs in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years? Kevin Ross, Albert Lewis, Deron Cherry and Lloyd Buress? Those are the 4 main guys I remember so I think I covered all the boxes.
I have a great memory of many players and games but sometimes I take the years and players out of chronological order.

2. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs defensive and special teams players who won games in 1995 with walk off TDs?

James Hasty with a interception in OT to beat the Raiders 23-17 in OT (also the same day Mahomes was born). Vanover with the punt return in OT against San Diego on Monday night to beat them 29-23. Mark Collins returns a Todd McNair fumble at the end of regulation on when Houston was just playing for OT and we win 20-13. I think this was a Sunday night game.

3. Name the 3 Kansas City Chiefs special teams players who scored TD’s in a playoff clinching win against the Steelers to put the 1986 Chiefs in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years?

Garcia Lane on the kickoff and maybe Albert Lewis on the blocked punt and Kevin Ross on the blocked FG.

Again, this is a test for old nerds, not a test for general fandom. Less than 1% of fans would answer correctly.
