You're a Chiefs football reerun if...

....you want to move Branden Albert from left tackle.

....you want to draft a right tackle with the third overall pick.

....you want to draft Michael Crabtree with the third overall pick.

....you want to draft Aaron Curry with the third overall pick.

....you think Tyler Thigpen should be given a chance to "compete."

....you have anything positive to say about Carl Peterson, Herm Edwards or Gunther Cunningham.

Did I miss anything? Add to the list.

There are a lot of worse things you can do than spend your first 2 picks on a QB, especially if you were able to trade one of them away at no cost to you. (which we could actually do with both at this point--and this post is not directed at Mr. htismaqe)
Exactly.

Spot on.

Trading for Cassel allows this team to possibly be competitive AND let the youth develop at the same time.

If you think either Stafford or Sanchez is eventually going to develop into an elite QB, you take him. People act like it would be the worst possible scenario to have 2 legit QB's. I'm sure Packers fans are pissed beyond belief that Aaron Rodgers sat for 4 years.

If Cassel shows he can't get it done without Moss and Welker, then you have an even younger QB with more potential waiting in the wings.

If Cassel has a decent season, you can make a decision to sell him off to the highest bidder while his value is at its peak, or do the same with Stafford/Sanchez. Or keep both on the roster another year.

This isn't going to be a quick fix, folks. I'd much rather have the most important position on the field be a strength for the foreseeable future, than to take someone else at #3 because we felt we had no other choice.

If KC takes Sanchez and Cassel has a good year. Do you really think KC would be able to get a top 3 pick for Sanchez next year?

I'm sure people will take that as a "crossing fingers" moment, claiming I've wanted a QB all along, and trading for Cassel threw a wrench into that.

Personally, I'm not sure how anyone can say with any certainty that Pioli WOULDN'T take a QB at #3 - nothing he does on the weekend of the 25th would surprise me.

If Cassel was signed to a long-term deal, there wouldn't be this speculation.

The questions you have to ask yourself:

Is Cassel not signed because Pioli wants some flexibility on draft day?

Is Cassel not signed because Pioli views him as a stop-gap until Stafford/Sanchez is ready to start?

Is Cassel not signed as a smokescreen to make other teams think we're in the mix for Stafford/Sanchez?

If they take Stafford or Sanchez at #3, Cassel would be dealt - not the young guy.

You trade the guy that has the most perceived value to other teams. Teams like Tampa already offered a 1st for Cassel, it was just after the agreement with the Chiefs. If Cassel has another decent season, you're going to get a 1st from someone.

There are always a handful of teams that will overpay for the QB position out of sheer desperation.

We gave up the 13th(or whatever it was) pick for a guy that had been a backup until his late 20's. So sure I think you could do that,or get something like a 1st and 2nd or 3rd.

So, if Cassel proves himself you trade him? Only in Sanchez World does this make sense.

Define "proves himself."

Even an average year would net us a 1st in 2010. He doesn't have to play lights out. He just can't take a monumental step back like Derek Anderson.

You keep overlooking the entire ****ing point out of sheer hate for anything QB related, especially Sanchez:

If they draft a QB at #3, it's to be the QBOTF, and Cassel is a stop-gap.

Don't forget Stafford; he could be part of the equations instead of Sanchez.

Your letting your bias show intentional or otherwise.

If Cassel plays like he did last year, he's a top 10 QB. It's completely ****ing reeruned to think that if Cassel plays like he did last year and doesn't take a step back, on a team that is an absolute mess, that he should then be traded because you have a love fest for Sanchez.
