Correct. But it would be a RISKY left tackle. Why take that chance unless you were desperate for a solution like the Chiefs?

I'm devils advocating here a bit, but I would imagine this isn't viewed by other teams as the home run some here are thinking.

It's a risk, the Chiefs think it's worth taking.

Bc if it fails most of those teams are getting fired.

Meanwhile this team had by far the worst LT situation in football starting 4 different guys including moving a G to play LT. They still went 17-2.

These other teams aren’t doing that. They don’t have Mahomes, Andy and Spags like we do.

Idk how he can be a bust. I mean how do u define it? There’s no way he will be as bad as Kingsley even if his surgery was a failure.

And he’ll 90% be better than anyone on the roster in the past two years at left tackle.

CEH was a bust because his position is easily replaceable.

Fau - Im not even convinced he is a bust we have not used him much because spags had a fetish for giant starting defensive ends

I don’t really see a path for Simmons to bust unless we just don’t start him

So is he the best LT prospect in the class or no?

The Chiefs are in a situation where they have to take risks to fill a premium position. Drafting where we draft every year and then the cost of signing a proven stud LT where the cost is so prohibited puts us in a position to take the risk. We signed a guy who has and can start and be better than what we put out on the field last year and then we took a chance on a young talent coming back from a tough injury in the draft. A guy who if the risks pays off will solve the problem. I not sure what our other choices really were.

Yeah the Chiefs went all-in to fix this problem through both free agency and the draft. If it doesn't work, I'll at least be glad we went down swinging.

I don't think anybody here thinks it's a home run.

They just agree with the Chiefs - it was a risk worth taking.

It makes sense. A chance at a legit LT, picking where we pick isn't coming along often.

I'm just saying....there's alot of ways this could go off the rails.

There absolutely is a way for him to be worse than Suamataia. This injury is high risk. If he doesn’t make a complete recovery, it wouldn’t be a surprise for to not make it to a second contract.

There is a 50/50 shot for him to bust just from the start, based on historical rates of hits on 1st round picks at T.

Hope it works but let’s not act shocked if it doesn’t.

Many busts are due to teams giving up on a player.

There is a cost of sticking with a guy - for that team.

Consider that teams cut players or trade them away or let them ride the bench and those players may have been very successful.

You must adjust for the fact that kc is going to give this guy every chance to succeed.
