What does everyone think of supporter powers?

To add some background supporters pay $10 a month and they get the ability to issue infractions or warnings and if the person gets enough of infractions he gets temp ban for a day or 2.

Some of the people in DC are upset that shtsprayer got temp banned because of some comments he made and believe that supporter powers are too strong.

On the flip side DaFace made a good point yesterday that if it wasn't for the few of us supporters Malboro Chief would have posted a ton of porn yesterday but we were able to ban him almost immediately.

So what does everyone think? Good idea, bad idea?

Technically all the money sent to Kyle is invested back into this BB.

Right?

when I make a profit like that I have to pay tax. Thats a lot of money to get just hand out a few flags to members on here. How much does it cost to run this? Couple hundred? I don't mind donating, but I like to know it goes to a good cause and not hookers and blow.

more than technically .... he's been paying for the servers all by himself (without banners etc) for years.

Think of the Servers he had to buy to run this place. Also think about all the software he's needed to purchase as well. Also think about the money it costs in electricity to be constantly running those servers.

I'm sure w/ all the software/hardware needed to keep up this place he doesn't turn a profit at all.

And I guarantee you there is no way that we donate $12,000 a year to him. No way at all.

Now you're throwing around accusations? You're just going to assume that Kyle doesn't pay income tax? Should he send you his tax forms and get an a-ok from you before he files? What nerve you have!

They don't grow them in Montana like they used to, do they? In Idaho, people minded their own business. I always imagined that's the way things were in Montana, but watching this spectacle pretty well dispels that notion. Apparently we've got the profit police operating out there.

IIRC, around $300/month. And do you know personally that he doesn't claim this money. AND He's been losing money for years on this. And I doubt he even gets enough to cover his expenses.

No way in hell. People talk a good game when it comes to donating, but he'll be lucky to break even. I just can't believe the nerve some people have that they want to start nosing into the financials. This place is pretty cut and dried. You either like it, and want to donate, or you don't. I don't see where Kyle has any need to start running open books so that the profit police can be appeased.

HELL YEAH! (if we ever break even that IS where it is going!)

Unfortunately, no. It goes to monthly server and yearly software costs... plus the occasional hardware upgrade. (boring I know...)

You're overreacting just a tad. Badmajama just wanted to know whether the donations we actually being used to run the server and not line Kyle's pockets.

I highly doubt that the donations really amount to all that much money though, probably not even enough to run the servers.
