What should Veach accomplish this offseason?

Obviously we will try to keep OBJ and Ingram. Clark and Hitchens are probably gone.
I want Matheiu gone but I’m not sure Spags will let Veach do that. That will be interesting.

I think our #1 need has to be another receiving weapon. Mahomes went through slumps and a big part of that was the shit from Robinson and Pringle. They just aren’t good enough when Kelce and Reek are double covered.

We need to start a youth movement at DL, secondary and WR. Kelce, Jones, Ingram and Matheiu (whether he stays or goes) are starting to get old.

Basically WR, pass rush and secondary. I want Veach to attack those areas hard.

What do you think?

This.

We need a WR2 (Juju or Chark?), a RT to compete with Niang, and a RB (draft 3rd/4th round).

All other picks should be defense. Bring Ingram back, re-sign Ogbah, and cut Clark, Hitchens, Sorensen, Mathieu. I'm letting Reed walk too, he did next to nothing all season.

Blow it up and build around Bolton, Gay, and Jones.

Well, the offseason is all we can really talk about now

Talking about the future is maybe the best way to forget about the past IMO

I’d really like Veach to focus on some strong route runners who understand space. Hunter Renfrow and Cooper Kupp are two of the best at that and both were not 1st rd picks.

It would really help us with the amount of cover 2 we’re bound to see in the future

With all of the turnover that this roster will face, and a brutal schedule, I’m not too optimistic about next season.

The schedule IS BRUTAL, that's for sure. This year really was a wasted opportunity.

We've been here before, after the 2018 season. Lost in the AFCCG, then gutted and rebuilt the defense in one offseason.

I think this should be not quite as bad as all that.

I agree.

This year might be a good time to trade back and acquire more picks. Assuming, someone wants to move up.

We got Jones on DL.

Cheap young players in Sneed, Fenton, Gay, and Bolton on D.

Add some cheap hungry vets on DL and safety and use most of the draft picks to bolster depth and look for a few more stars we can develop.

The Browns basically had one star on their DL then signed a bunch of 1-year vets to fill out their DL 2-deep. They ended up with 43 sacks.

I’d be good with that route. I’d like Ogbah on a 2-year deal, Jones, Wharton, a couple 1-year vets, and an early pick. That could be a good DL. Much better than this year.

New D coordinator. Change the thinking with youth.

A true RB
A true WR
Pass rushers
Safety
CB's

Rebuild the D and get a legit RB threat.

CEH is a joke
McKinnon is a band-aid
Gore is unreliable
D. Williams is not the answer

We need a K. Hunt
J. Taylor
Dalvin Cook level RB

My .02 off the top of my head

Obviously there are needed personnel upgrades, but Veach did his part last offseason to put the Chiefs in a position to get to the Super Bowl again and Andy/EB didn't capitalize with their strategy failures yesterday.

Run the ball in the goal to goal situation late in the 4th quarter, against Cincy's 8 coverage defense, behind Veach's expertly rebuilt offensive line, with Veach's sleeper RB signing (McKinnon), and the Chiefs likely score a TD and are heading to the Super Bowl.

If Andy isn't willing to be more adaptable to adjust his play calling and in-game strategy to better react to the two high safety coverage, the 8 man coverage, or whatever else defenses throw at the Chiefs... Veach's continued brilliance will be wasted.

Pretty much this.

A lot of people are begging for an upgrade at running back, but for what?

Does anyone really have any faith that things would be different? If we won’t use them when effective, might as well invest the minimum at the position and get help elsewhere.

Agree with all of this. My thinking is we miss having a RB that can do real damage if teams are bailing everyone back in coverage. Someone who can really work in space both running and receiving. We saw a glimpse of that with McKinnon but he’s not the answer going forward. Our other backs don’t do enough damage to keep teams honest.

It’s not necessarily the WR2 role, but we need someone as a slot receiver who can work shallow routes and help beat cover 2. Hill did pretty well with that, but we need him to pressure teams deep. Without that threat we won’t need to worry about the cover 2 as much. Maybe we can find a shifty little guy in later rounds that has that quickness even if they are lacking too end speed.

It’s too early to think about next season but I think we’ll be extremely dangerous if we can get a quality receiver, replace Clark and Matheiu with good players and keep Ingram/Ward.
