Just curious... If the fan called Smart a racial slur, was he justified for shoving the fan.

I think its an interesting debate about where the line should be drawn for fans to get away with jawing at players. Let's first see if there's any truth to this. My personal opinion is that sports should have leeway for fan behavior, but there's a line that fans too often cross.

It's also an embarrassment to me that Tech would basically side with their asshole fan in this instance. The guy "voluntarily agreed" not to attend any more games this year. If his actions really are "unacceptable" and "not condoned" by the university as it says, ban him from the ****ing games.

But it sounds like LOTS of OSU alumni are coming out of the woodwork claiming that Orr says some weird shit and that the N-word is said all the time at games in Lubbock. Was he guilty this instance? How many fans were sitting around Orr? Lets hear one fan in the 40 or so ppl vicinity that would have heard what he said, go on record saying that he called him otherwise. I haven't heard it.

The problem is so many ppl want to assume race baiting right away without any evidence. Then when you supply evidence (the video) they deny it, say it must be "doctored". Just unbelievable. Calling someone a piece of crap, at a sporting even, is on the lesser end of the spectrum of the worst things I've heard. Not even close to being bad. Go to a Chiefs game one time, listen to what is yelled at the opposing team when they are on offense, you'll hear wayyy worse.

Ban him for calling Smart a piece of crap? If they start banning every fan that says something derogatory towards a player from an opposing team, Allen Field House is going to be pretty empty.

Why? The fan is being slandered all over social media. They sure as hell better back up their fan if they have the evidence. Good for them IMO. I had teetered onto Smart's side a bit once everybody on twitter (who wasn't at the game) were saying he said "go back to africa", but it makes perfect sense now. Nothing remotely like that was said, Smart is just a hot head.
