The decision making alluded to comes mostly from the first two years of his career and mostly from the 1st quarter. The guy lead this team back to so many(sometime self inflicted) defecits his sophmore year the nation media called them the cardiac kids. His decision making in crunch time has by far and away been sound. Just look at his second half stats over his career. What a dense statement. Can't be fixed with coaching? What happened his senior year? What was his TD/INT ratio? If not for the overhyped defense and TERRIBLE special teams play, his senior year would have been the icing on the cake of a great college career. Instead, a letdown of a season with great QB stats that he would have glady traded for more W's.

How is that a stupid statement? Other than the fact that we've barely seen Palko in the regular season. Stanzi played very well in the preseason and moved fluidly in the pocket, if that's what you want to call the sea of opponents he was caught up in.

My short version though... the defense folded on final drives on almost every one of those games.
Cool but you said he succeeded more often than not in the Wisconsin like situations did you not? Northwestern for example he was down by 3 and had the ball last with 1:30 and couldn't even manage his team to get a field goal. IT would appear he's not as clutch as you Hawkeye homers pretend he is.

His senior year? He had spotty Oline, poor RB play, a TE and 2 receivers. Not to mention he played in a pro style run first offense. Shithead.

No doubt. His junior year he had Bulaga on the OL. His senior year, Bulaga was playing on the OL for the Packers.

Did you watch the preseason? Did you see how much Cassel sucked? His statement is somewhat inaccurate, but only by a little bit.

3:40 mark for the last Iowa attempt at a comeback. Stanzi pulls a Cassel.

Here is the way I see Stanzi - he's the only hope for the franchise.

Pioli and Haley have determined, in the era of downfield passing, that Matt Cassel (arguably the worst QB in the NFL when under any type of pressure) and Tyler Palko (got cut by an AFL team 2 years ago) are the two people to guide the team to a championship. Such decision making is inexcusable at this point.

I don't think they will part ways with Cassel in the offseason. Since their QB evaluation to date has been atrocious I don't have faith they will (a) draft a QB early, or (b) draft a good QB.

All that leaves me with is Stanzi. If I can't hope that Stanzi is a dark horse franchise QB, then I might as well go and buy a Raiders jersey.
