So when do we fire Dumther Cunningham?

???

Still waiting for him to bring back that "dominant Chiefs defense" he promised, oh, what, four years ago?

Whose he going to blame this year, two years after acquiring every player on his "list of players" to turn the chiefs D around?

I'm beginning to think Gunther is the Carl Peterson of defensive coordinators.

This whole staff needs to be canned if Herm is coming back...

I cant believe people are still making excuses for this chump??

Hes had ever concievable chance now to prove himself and failed.

1995 was a long time ago Gun. Its pretty obvious now Marty was the REAL mastermind behind those great D's in the mid 90's.

See ya!

When are ****ing people going to stop giving Gunther a free pass already? He talked a big freaking game when he came back to KC, continues to do so, but his defense, sans no offense or not, crumbles when it matters most.

Enough of his shit. Find a new coordinator who can back up the way he talks.

I'm just amazed with how shitty the rest of the team has been, the defense and coaches are in question.

Hopefully we have a 10 year run like the Patriots so the fans are satisfied.

I've reserved all of the hate I have in my heart for two entities.

The Chiefs offensive line

and

Carl Peterson.

I can't hate Gunther..there's not enough room in the hate compartment of my heart.

What the **** do I have to be satisfied about?

Gunther has been here 4 years and the defense has never, ever played the way he said it was going to in the preseason.

He got new toys to tinker with every year. He got the guys he wanted, and most of those guys (Surtain, Napoleon Harris, Ty Law, Kendrell Bell, Carlos Hall) have turned out to be horrible under his coaching.

Just because the rest of the team is shitty, doesn't give Gunther a free pass.

Hopefully we get some fans on here who have a ****ing clue instead of sticking up for ole' faithful Gun.

When the big turnaround happens that he keeps promising let me know.

Exactly.

Gun is not a Cover 2 guy. Still, with the 30th ranked O, this team has been in almost every game until the last 2 weeks. I think they are demoralized knowing they cannot make even one mistake because the O has failed to score more than 13 points in almost every game.

Cunningham is not the problem here. I would understand if Herm wanted "his guy" but he damned well have better credentials than Gun.

What are his credentials?

If you give him 2 great pass rushers, a big run-stuffing DT, and 2 all-pro CBs, he can field a top defense?

Shocking.

Hes been back here enough years to get players on defense, and he hasn't. In the meanwhile, he's taken the opportunity to blame everyone else for his shortcomings, from the players to DV...
Baltimore had a good offensive line that year anchored with Ogdan and all time great LT. Chiefs have NOTHING that resembles that. 2000 Ravens offense>2007 Chiefs Offense. If we can even call it offense.

Good coordinators take marginal talent and make them good.......the sign of a good coordinator isn't a guy who makes a defense #1 when it has a ton of talent....

To many people are snowed by Gunther, he needs pro bowlers all over the field to be a good DC that means he sucks/

This is how the game started.

3 and out
3 and out
3 and out
nice little drive. TD.
2nd half
3 and out.
3 and out
2 and interception.

Seriously wtf is the defense to do when this shit happens for 13 games straight. They are just beat up and tired. Even if the Chiefs defense can hold themt o 10 points. WE STILL cannot win a game.

If they fire Guntharr thats fine with me, but for a team that has been on the field so damned much this year,i think he's doing a hell of a job.

All the players you mentioned are the ones turning the corner with age. Ty Law was more of a fans demand that he take them. Law has been a horrible tackler, but he's had his moments like when he owned Peyton Manning in the playoffs.

Bell was questionable of how he would do in a 4-3 after thriving in Pittsburghs 3-4.

I'm just saying, do you think the teams problems really reside on defense?

I think if you throw this defense in with Vermeils offense it would be nasty, mostly because these guys would have a little time to rest.

The 1995 and 1997 Chiefs allowed 241 and 235 points. Those defenses were good without any HoFers except DT. Not saying gun is vince Lombardi, i just believe the anger directed against him is irrational. Everyone is angry now and the temptation to rip it all out by the roots is appealing but not sensible. There are a few things this team is doing right this season.

Me, I am not sold that Gun and Cover 2 are a marriage made in heaven.
