I agree and my critiques of it were just from a movie standpoint.

Yeah, I didn't mean I wanted recognizable actors. Abrams had the right idea with actors people weren't familiar with. My problem was that I didn't think the quality of acting was great.

The movie delivered on that. For me, anyway.
Very understandable and it's why I have mixed opinions of the film. It delivers on the monster movie aspect of it fine. But in terms of judging this film and how it ties into future sequels, I won't have a clear idea of the whole series until more light is shed on everything that went unanswered in the first movie.

60% and above is considered good....

77% and it is "certified fresh!" at Rottentomatoes.com which means they approve! It's got many reviews, they base the % off those.

ill be missing that as it doesnt look interesting at all. it reminds me (from the previews) of Jeepers Creepers about how nothing is explained and the director expects you to either ignore the fact that your lost or make up your own background to create your own plots to make it interesting. Jeepers creepers (saw it only on cable) is b/c it explains NOTHING!!! oh there this invincible monster that eats people.....where did it come from? how did it get its powers? etc....

so to quote Pooty Tang..."I got to say nah nay no" on this movie

I actually like leaving things somewhat mysterious as opposed to the George Lucas method of trying to explain ever single thing and give everything a background story.

Fair enough, in Memento (for example)there was unexplained mystery (i.e. whos story can you really belive due to some photos of him with his wife already covered in tattoos) that added to the plot line that leaves the viewer with some intellectual though post viewing. with Jeepers Creepers they didn’t even attempt it....hey lets throw a monster that’s invincible and have it hunt kids and listen to that oldies song "Jeepers Creepers" and have it playing the entire time throughout the movie to annoy the F*** out of anyone who dare watches it.

trust me Deberg, i like a good thinking mans movie to which you can fill in the puzzles yourself by simple contemplation however, there’s a fine line between genius and lazy writing.

That is what makes the best movies to me as well. I also enjoy movies that have several great characters that ends up tying them all together in the end... Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch are 2 very good examples of those types of movies (both of which are Guy Richie films).

I think its more of a monster movie than a sci fi movie Mr. Fax.

By the way, for anyone who wants to see an awesome monster movie, rent The Host. Its a Korean movie from last year or two years ago and it is great. Very funny and entertaining.

The Host was great. They showed the monster in full daylight running around causing chaos within 15 minutes of the movie starting. Thats pretty refreshing after most movies just hint and give glimpses.

Ill see it of course. IM a sucker for a good Giant Monster movie, but the Blair Witch hand held camera crap, im not sure about. But i guess thats the gimmick.

BTW, why if you were being chased around NY city by a giant monster, would you continue to film every single thing???

Yeah The Hollywood Reporter said,"It's The Blair Godzilla Project."

From everything I've read the plot sounded really stupid, but the monster stuff didn't disappoint.
