I thought the movie was OK and it kept me interested for the entire 2 hours. I'm sure that's not cool, but whatever. My daughter, who has read all the books, didn't like it that much because it is the typical movie adaptation of a book that leaves out a bunch of what she thought is pretty important stuff. My other daughter, who hasn't read the book, thought it was the greatest movie ever.

The fight scene was cool, and when they were playing baseball and running from the other vampires was cool, I just had a hard time paying attention through the first 1 hr of it.

For those bothered by the supposed abstinence message, I think you're more bothered by the politics of that idea than any actual message in the movie. The fact that a movie doesn't have teenage sex in it isn't really the same as a promotion of abstinence.

I'm glad I saw Twilight for one reason: It made the phrase jump the shark obsolete, to be potentially replaced with The vampires are playing baseball.

I was hoping to hear from Reaper or someone else concerned with the supposed "abstinence" message (or the Mormon influence) in this movie to explain to me how I'm wrong. Maybe they aren't reading the spoiler so it won't ruin the movie for them.

Because Edward, the greatest/creepiest guy/vampire ever, wants to hold back until they get MARRIED~!! to have sex and then when they do get married and bang she gets impregnated with his half-human half-demon offspring the very first time because duh, that's what happens whenever you have sex.

And also he's 110 years old and still hanging out with high school kids on a daily basis what the **** is this shit.

I don't care whether the message is abstinence or that torrid sex is great. The books are ****ing reeruned.

If the book were primarily aimed at boys, I could see it as an abstinence message, but it's core audience seems to be female. Personally, I think it's a dangerous message to tell young girls that the boy is going to watch out for their best interests when it comes to sex.

The main vampires in the movie certainly demonstrate something parallel to abstinence, but the most important character, the human girl, seems more than ready to go. Not only is she ready to give up her virginity (assuming she's a virgin to begin with), but by the end of the movie she's begging to give up her humanity. Given that this movie probably appeals more to girls than to guys, it's not really what I would have considered much of an abstinence message and it certainly isn't heavy handed if it is. __________________ “Boy, you all want power.
