Tradeback ?

If we were to trade back with say the bengals or 49ers so that they could get crabtree before Seattle, what kind of compensation would we be receiving? Im just curious because I have seen this discussed frequently on the planet. I know that trades in the top 5 are pretty infrequent, but just been wondering lately.

Thanks

I'm probably calculating this wrong but if say the Eagles decide they want Crabtree before Seattle or Oakland choose him they'd have to give the Chiefs the following:

21st pick - first round
28th pick - first round
next year's #1 pick
53rd pick - second round

That's a lot to give up but if they really wanted him....

From last year's (2008) draft using the draft value chart:

New England trades #7, #164 = 1526.8
New Orleans trades #10, #78 = 1500

Detroit trades #15, #76 = 1260
Kansas City trades #17, #66, $136 = 1248

Houston trades #18 = 900
Baltimore trades #26, #89, #173 = 868.2

LOL, the Eagles are not moving up for a WR, they've drafted exactly 1 first round WR in Reids entire stay there..

They devalue the WR and LB positions....expect them to stand pat and take some OT's as their guys are getting very old and they badly wanted Albert last year.

I think it's still useful to an extent, but I don't think any team takes it as a literal value equivalency without considering a lot of other factors.

It was all hypothetical example based upon the Eagles having 2 first round picks in this draft. I wasn't saying they would draft Crabtree.

I was just pointing out their draft strategy, there are some teams that you can easily look at to know what they'd be looking for in the draft.

I talked about this possibility a few days ago. One scenario that made sense, at least at this point, would be to trade with SF and move down to #10. There we could take someone like Everette Brown to be our beast OLB in the 3-4.

Teams have to pay out the ass for top rookie contracts these days, so I don't think we'd get full value in return according to the value chart.

At this point, I still think one of the QBs makes sense for us at #3. But I can easily see a scenario where Pioli's main priority is trading back to acquire more picks so we can revamp the defense to move to the 3-4.

Something in that range.
I would think their 10th and 42nd pick in this year's draft + a #2 next year.

Here's a better question...if you drop to 10, you probably just killed your shot at the top 2 QB's..

So then Tyler Thigpen is the QB again...unless the Chiefs continue their gimmick offense him in a regular offense was one of the ugliest things ever.

Yes, or you pick up a FA QB. You have to at least consider the possibility that Pioli will not value Stafford or Sanchez as high as draftniks and/or other teams do. The Pats have shown a tendency to draft to the beat of their own drummer.

But the Big Chief wants a franchise QB and he sort of keeps bringing it up each time he is interviewed.
