My kids must have no idea about the significance of that war.

I grew up in a neighborhood and family full of guys who fought in it.

My father (with the help of a brother) falsified documents so he could serve when he was 16. That was 1944.

I once made a paper airplane with a neighbor kid. His was American. Mine was Nazi.

His father saw what we were doing (playing a game, as far as we knew). He gave me a lecture that I'll never forget about drawing a swastika on anything. Game or not.

i was in 2nd grade and took a major ass-beating for the same thing. saw some swastika on the bathroom wall at school. went home and drew a few to show my old man...BAM!
after that, i'd only draw titties.

My neighbor's heritage was Polish. Once I was no longer eight years old I understood his position.

2 grandfathers served in europe...one came home. i picked it up pretty quick after that.

Chinese forces were unable to effectively resist the Japanese. The Japanese military was not only better armed and organized, they were also incredibly brutal. The rape of Nanking was one of the most terrible atrocities of World War II. Nonsense. That was just a conflict between two countries. The invasion of Poland directly led to the declaration of war on Germany by France and the UK.

Only because we refused to have any sympathy for the CHINESE. Our refusel to become involved in the conflict lead directly to Japans aggression that involved the US in WW2. Without which it is very likely that Roosevelt would not have been able to become involved in the European side of the War.

The only reason most people refuse to admit the 2nd WW started in Asia is because we are mostly of European descent and have always thought of the Asians as second class countries.

No, it is because Japan and China fighting each other did not result in multiple countries declaring war upon one another.

Only because of the reasons I stated. The by that definition, the "war" we fought in Asia & the pacific is not truly a part of the second world war.
