Actually the Second World War started when Japanese launched an invasion of China proper, July 7, 1937. The Japanese Kwantung Army turned a small incident into a full-scale war. Nonsense. That was just a conflict between two countries. The invasion of Poland directly led to the declaration of war on Germany by France and the UK.

Only because we refused to have any sympathy for the CHINESE. Our refusel to become involved in the conflict lead directly to Japans aggression that involved the US in WW2. Without which it is very likely that Roosevelt would not have been able to become involved in the European side of the War.

The only reason most people refuse to admit the 2nd WW started in Asia is because we are mostly of European descent and have always thought of the Asians as second class countries.

No, it is because Japan and China fighting each other did not result in multiple countries declaring war upon one another.

Only because of the reasons I stated. The by that definition, the "war" we fought in Asia & the pacific is not truly a part of the second world war.

Huh? We had no real reason to declare war on Japan until Pearl.

Your kidding right? The US Marines were involved in the July 7, 1937 Marco Polo bridge incident that started the war. Our Gunboats were repeatedly attacked and 1 even sunk by the Japanese, resulting in the death of several Marines. Our troops were also strafed by the Japanese air force & Several US Marines were also killed/captured in the bridge incident.

Not sure what a "real" reason would be to declare war, but the unprovoked attack, killing & capture of US soldiers & civilians seems pretty good to me.

Again, only because they involved Asians, were we not willing to get involved. Roosevelt admitted he "overlooked" Japans aggression only because he wanted to fight the Germans.
