Sweeney: I think Mike Remmers wins starting LG.
Generally speaking, Pete Sweeney is a sharp dude and rarely shoots off the hip at these things. He is also pretty connected at 1 Arrowhead Drive.

Currently, he sees the competition boiling down to Remmers v. Wylie, with Remmers winning out.

Pretty interesting, if Remmers takes the job, look at these other OL we have that he got the gig over:

Andrew Wylie
Martinas Rankin
Lucas Niang
Nick Allegretti
To say nothing of two outstanding UDFA prospects in Yasir Durant and Darryl Williams, and Ryan Hunter, who has seen (horrific) snaps at guard.

I wonder what he’s seen or heard that lead him to this conclusion.

I would go Rankin. But I don’t think it will be long before Niang comes for either LG or RG. I think we have some good depth/competition. The only “safe” bets are our OT’s.

I like Rankin in that spot as well. I would also like to see someone take away Reiters job. Maybe Niang plays RG and the good doctor can play C I know Andy is all about just getting the best 5 on the field.

Rankin, if recovered from injury, is first choice left guard. Allegretti impressed the Chief's staff with his center play at the East-West Shrine game. I think they see him as having Mitch Morse potential.
