Cowboys will release Amari Cooper

Damn. Would be amazing if this guy wants to chill with Mahomes for a year and build his reputation.

Legit sources saying Godwin is staying in TB. I will have to go back and dig, but I’m sure Dante82 can find out….

Hard pass. There are better options for roughly the same money.

They can't really tag him given that he was tagged last year - the price would be fairly exorbitant. And there's a pretty good chance they tag Jordan Whitehead so that's not going to be a small number.

Then again, with Brady's $$$ coming off the books, they probably have more than enough space to get something done with Godwin.

A WR needy team will probably overpay Cooper in the first couple of days. It'll be interesting to see if he just takes the highest contract he can get out there or if he takes less to go to a team with an established QB.

He'd be a damn nice complement to Tyreek, for sure. Especially since he appears to have largely gotten past those chronic drops that showed up for a season in Oakland.

And he'd have a nice opportunity to give the Raiders the bird here.

Problem is that I think there will be an awfully robust market for his services, especially if (when) Adams gets tagged or extended and knocks the top off the market. And with the draft being deep but not great at the top for WRs, FA is where a lot of teams are likely to look for immediate impact.

He could probably get something near $18-20 million/season.
Agreed.

And the fact that they didn’t extend him to get his number down probably means he wants the money.

I’m fairly shocked that the Cowbitches will release him. He’s good. And it’s not like Dak can make something out of nothing.

Cooper has made $76 million in 7 years. He’s still only 27 so he may want one last big contract. I would if I were him

Not sure we would be able to afford him regardless, but I think he would be my first pick WR bar Davante Adams

You would think, at least in my mind, that after making $76 million....that he would want a shot at a championship. $76 million isn't a tiny amount of money. I guess adding another $60-70 million is great but I would rather have a shot at rings at this point.

Very inconsistent hands, and pretty often is visibly disinterested in what is happening on the field. He has always feasted on teams with poor secondaries, and then vanished against good D's.

Just based on talent and physical ability, he should be a top 5 WR. However, I don't think he actually likes playing football.

He realistically has 1 more year to do the 1 year deal thing. Going into the market at 28 can still get you a big payday but by 29 you're gonna struggle a bit.

But that 1 more year needs to be huge and if I'm him, I'm not coming to KC as the #3 pass catching option for that 'make good' year. I'm going somewhere like SD at worst to replace Evans (where Allen's likely to get hurt as well). Hell, maybe even Jacksonville where he can just hog targets.

If I'm taking a 1 year deal it's not to be second fiddle because his earning power could really tank.

I'd probably take the most money I can get over the first 3 years if I'm Cooper. The risk likely isn't worth the reward.

No thanks. It would be like having Watkins again with the only difference being Cooper is healthy when he is unproductive.
