Some perspective

So the Chiefs have been good for 10 years. Andy has been here that long and they've just been a real consistent good team in the NFL. Averaged 12 wins a year since Andy has been here.

Then they get Mahomes and are averaging 13 or so. They've turned over the roster and built an elite offense, turned over the roster and built an elite defense and are still winning.

In a league built to....not let that happen. Look around at teams that are good. Usually they have a 3ish year run, top out, then start losing talent and end up going back down into missing the playoffs and kinda start over. Usually there's a window, look at the Bills, etc.

This group just keeps winning games. Every year.

I get we want the offense to be better. I'm sure they do as well. But damn guys.....we're kinda in the golden age here. They're gonna end up winning 14 games this year. We'll bitch and moan our way to hosting another AFCCG at the Head.

Why does everyone have to treat these guys as infallible? There's also a world where we can acknowledge mistakes and have trust that we have really good people to fix them. It's not the end of the world even if we don't fix everything this year and there doesn't seem to be that vibe anywhere.

Because when you're running them down coming off a Sb victory and in a season they're the current 1 seed bye, it comes off pretty bitchy.

Yeah, they're gonna miss. Evaluating people is hard. Shit happens. It's not gonna go perfect every time.

But they've shown that they'll pivot and still be successful. When you look around the league, they're clearly one of the 2 best ran franchises in the league and criticizing them just sounds like sour grapes for whatever reason

Nobody is beyond criticism, because nobody is perfect.

You can rest on that excuse and continue to for example, be the laughing stock of NFL football on 3rd and 1, or you can maybe just run the ****ing football with your pissed off runner that drives piles of 250 pound men backward.

What's done is done. 5 afc title hosts, 3 sb appearances, and 2 wins. Yeah. Great. That has ZERO bearing on this season and gaffes like trotting Hardmans dimb ass out there to field punts inside the 5 repeatedly, punting from the enemy 40 on 4th n short in a game you're down, and things like despite having a big rah rah gathering on the sideline to close out the game in the 4 minute offense, your ass goes 3 and out anyway, because although you ran for 9 yards on the first 2 downs, it's 3rd and 1 and it's in your contract to fail 90% of these opportunities with braindead decisions so you call some dumbass slow developing pass play and get thoroughly clowned when all you had to do was feed 10.

If you want to shout down fans who criticize poor decisions, and poor performance, based on nothing but the teams past accomplishments, hey awesome. Go put America's Game on repeat for those title seasons and keep your head in the sand.

Right now, this team, offense and Special teams especially, have a lot of things to fix quickly.

The defense is playing great, but 14 points ain't gonna cut it in the post season. For Christ's sake we've got Mahomes crying for flags nearly every snap like he should be wearing blue and orange.

Love Mahomes. Favorite player ever, but the whining for flags because the offense is so terribly ****ing bad is a visual aid to help you see just how shitty things are offensively right now.

To say all of this is beyond criticism, and a personal problem for fans who aren't ****ing blind, well it's pretty ridiculous.

No one is perfect, absolutely. I'm not the one here expecting perfection though.

This time last year, we were hearing all the bitching about "how can you expect to win in the playoffs with a young defensive backfield like this". Then they won a Sb.

And here you are calling them the "laughing stock of the league", coming from a guy who's NEVER been an Andy Reid fan.

So yeah. I guess carry on wiht whatever you're doing. They'll continue to host AFC title games, win a few SB's, you'll write it off that it's in the past and none of it matters now in the future.

Fixed your tragic comic attempt to twist the post. Nice try i guess.

Can you point to a worse performing team/playcaller on 3rd and 1?

This is Andy MUTHA ****IN REID, right? Alleged best play designer in NFL history right?

3rd and 1, this mother****er about to be punting the football. So yes, laughing stock of NFL football on 3rd and 1.

It's not just this year either, 3rd and 1 has been a problem for a long time.

When the alleged greatest offensive mind in football can't figure out how to get the ball 3 feet forward, that's a problem.

One you may choose to acknowledge, or ignore, but it is hilarious how often we fail the most desirable third down distance.

Do you consider him any of these things?

Clearly the whole league is laughing at the Chiefs for their short yardage woes. Maybe they should be more worried about actually beating the Chiefs, but that's just me.

I get the frustration with the 3rd and 1 problems. I don't think anyone is oblivious to it. It's frustrating as hell when it happens and I don't think you're getting disagreement on that point. Heck, it's also frustrating when Andy can get too cute and out think himself. But the way in which you extrapolate your frustration on this narrow point to take a condescending and hostile tone towards Reid in general is too far imo and where you get people bristling.

At the end of the day, the goal is to win football games and championships, not have the best percentage on third and short or whatever metric we want to point to that needs improvement. Since his time here Andy has done a heck of a lot of winning. I'm sure he knows the team needs to be better. Let's keep things in perspective and not throw the baby out with the bathwater here.

Ok, so if everyone makes mistakes it's ok to criticize with the faith that we have good people who will eventually figure it out. It doesn't mean getting bombarded with "what, you think youre smarter than veach" accusations?

For years we made due with mahomes getting clobbered behind an awful OL. And they fixed it. Before they did we made do and we were pretty damn good but I don't think anyone regrets for a second pressing us to do better. We trust them to fix it but until we do, some of us won't sugarcoat what we are seeing. Doesn't mean we've lost confidence in veach or the team. If anything it's because we know as good as we are we have potential to be even better with a simple fixes

I wish I had crayons to draw this out for you.

We had the opportunity to close the game. You know, take away all possibility the other team could win.

Had a big rah rah session. Let's get it! Let's go! Aaaaaand 3 and out.

Why?

3rd and 1, after running for 9 yards on 2 downs, Andy calls pass.

Dolphins get the ball back, drive down the field, and fortunately for us, they fisted themselves by being unable to handle the complexity of the center/qb exchange.

If you think the real contenders for the superbowl are going to pink sock themselves and let us win, then sleep easy because you've got nothing to worry about.

A Patrick Mahomes led offense only putting up 14 points is a horrific display of coaching, playcalling, and execution.

Just keep telling yourself it's fine.

Oh it's not good enough. I would imagine, based on history of their time here it doesn't continue, but I if none of that matters, I would agree to be upset.

There's a group of people that believe there's really no point of this site even existing if they can't have some discussion critiquing the Chiefs play, even when we're 7-2 and are currently in the Golden Age of Chiefs Football.

And honestly that's fine. There's always room to be better, and the Chiefs this year clearly have room to be better, as has been discussed ad nauseum. So the critiquing isn't unwarranted. Most of the time it's fair.

Other times though I agree with you, people either seem to be

1. Not appreciating the moment and are entering the realm of entitled bitching just for the sake of it, or
2. They're playing armchair GM/HC and seem to genuinely think they could make better decisions and not whiff on anything.

It's just the ebb and flow of this board. I do believe it's more on the pessimistic side because of the Chiefs history of getting snakebit in the Postseason, but I digress.
