Running Backs

I know our line is pretty bad but we need to talk about Hunt & Pacheco. Those guys YPC the last few months of the season were really bad. The running back room needs an overhaul.

Andy likes finesse linemen but our backs aren't fast or shifty.

RBs absolute matter this is an absurd take if you think you can just drop back and throw 50 times a game
We've been doing it for 7 years. We throw more than almost anyone in the NFL. And for good reason. Mahomes avg pass is like 8 yards and at 67% completion rate. Why you would ever run on 1st or 2nd and 10 I have no idea. The defense would have to be giving you just an absurd look.

Now where I believe we sometimes go wrong is we don't play aggressive enough or play a sequence for 4 down territory. We run too much on 1st and 10 etc and not enough on say 2nd and 4 or 3rd and 3 with a plan to go for it on 4th if we don't make it. Even on 2nd and 7 you can reel off some runs if you have the stones to go for it on 4th down.

Hmm. I actually think this game illustrates a need to build both the offensive and defensive lines.

The Eagles ruined the Chiefs whole offense because their front four are so good. Six sacks with zero blitzes. While the Chiefs defense did take away the run, they did not really pressure Hurts.

We obviously need a left tackle but if that is out of reach I think a case can be made for the best defensive lineman available in the draft. Think I would rather have the best defensive tackle over the fifth best offensive tackle.

And it would be nice if we got something out of FAU. Veach has done a great job but oddly some of his worst draft mistakes come in the first two rounds.

All this to say that running back is pretty far down my list.

Why would we run if the avg pass is almost 2x as effective as running?

Philly didn't need to run in this game. When they tried we stuffed their shit in.

RBs barely matter. 2.3 ypc for Saquan.
Yes but the threat of Barkley opens up the pass game. Especially play action

My comment was more about OP stating the run game had gotten worse over the last couple months of the season.

Your leading rusher in the playoffs was Mahomes. Your list sucks

I agree with this. We need to be able to get more pressure out of our front foot with out blitzing. Karlaftis and Jones are our only two consistent at this.

My hope of Omenihu OS back next year after being further removed from his knee injury. I really hope FAU and Thompson develop into good rotation pieces this year.
I’d also like to see Lovett and Ika take over as the run DTs because both can still get some pressure. Then draft a 3 tech to start developing behind Chris Jones. Savion Jones would be a good option with our second or third pick.

We've been able to get a good pass rush since Omenihu was back. I really think the Eagles Oline is just super, super elite.
