LJ and Big Ben were engaged in various forms of domestic violence, and Mike Vick... well let's not go there. But you make a somewhat decent point -- did I not root for LJ when he burst through the Ravens defensive line for a 44 yard gain? Just like I do when I root for Matt Cassel when he nails Bowe on a slant? Yes, yes I did. But not all rooting is created equal. Just like not all opposition to a particular player/team is equal. There is a special satisfaction in me when we beat the Denver ****ing Broncos. And I'm also happy when we beat somebody like the Seahawks. But there is a very special sensation to seeing the Broncos go down. But if that's the psychological rabbit hole we're going down, then we have to acknowledge that that feeling works both ways. I'm happy when LJ rips off a big run, but it's a lot more satisfying when Dexter McCluster can pull it off because McCluster's a good ****ing person who has overcome a ton of limitations to pull that accomplishment off. There's an element of satisfaction to that that LJ can never match. Your argument, from the start of this thread, has been that it doesn't matter one iota to you. That's lowest common denominator bullshit, friend. |

I like great character as much as the next guy, but it means shit if you can't lead by example. Matt Cassel can't do that because he doesn't have the tools to be a starting NFL QB. All the stuff he says about team means shit because he's holding them back. If he cared about the team he would have retired. That would show me some ****ing character.

Listen, it's your right to root like a 7 year old. "Look Daddy, the nice guy I got an autograph from made a play!" It's also my right to root for anyone and everyone that performs at a high level for this organization, regardless of what they do in their personal lives. If you get a warm-and-fuzzy over a "good guy" contributing, good for you. I get a warm-and-fuzzy watching all ballplayers make great plays. |

My point is that you are deeming my appreciation of Matt Cassel for what he is as inappropriate.
As only something children do. As unappreciative of what it takes to succeed in the NFL. |

By all appearance, he is. He's just a shitty QB. And you're using the phrase "succeed in the NFL" pretty ****ing loosely here. |

Direckshun ****ing hates Matt Cassel.
He just has problems coming to terms with it. He feels bad about it. He needs a 7-step drop program. As in, watching a quarterback who can execute one.

A shitty QB is Brody Croyle and Tyler Palko. Cassel is a good backup and a mediocre starter.

I just hate how I've become this huge Cassel apologist because I personally like the guy and am not willing to call him the worst QB in the NFL.

When you start threads like this you deserve every ounce of shit you get.
And I know you don't like him when we get beat 31-3 and 17-10 at home. All I ever think about when I think about Matt Cassel are those two games, and his games in 2010 at home against Buffalo and Baltimore. 4 home games, and he sucked huge chickens in each one. That's who he is. And it makes me mad as hell. When you think of Matt, think of shit, and hate him.
