Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Was sick all last week and wasn't able to work out, it was a terrible feeling, drove me nuts... started back on monday feeling all weak and out of sorts, it sucks trying to work your way back.
Once I get going on a regimen I absolutely hate missing workouts. |

I try to use iso machines & cables for stuff like lateral raises, rear delt work. Gives you more resistance through the entire range of motion rather than just when your lever (arm) is parallel with the floor. Sounds weird but if your doing seated DB laterals with 20lbs for example, your only getting the full 20lbs resistance when your arm is parallel. At the bottom and as you start your raise, there is less resistance. Cables give you whatever is on the stack at all times it feels like.
Maybe my explanation is off but cables just feel more tension IMO than say a front plate raise. |

I really wish I could get up in the mornings. My ideal day would be to jog before work and hit the gym after work. Jogging after my workouts is catching up with me. Did I make it up this morning? No. Looks like I'm jogging after my workout again this evening.
While I'm not doing keto or anything, I am going to go low carb for a few weeks to get the weight off that I put on while on vacation last week. It's amazing how one week of hotel fitness center workouts and not watching your diet can take two weeks worth of strict, hard work to make up for. I took a few months off from having a trainer, but I'm going to sign back up next month. I just like the added accountability, the instruction, etc. I'll be meeting with him twice per month instead of once per week like I did before. |
