Matt Cassel: Good or Bad?

We may as well have an easy point of reference for people to be able to come back and eat their crow when this all pans out. Everyone always says I knew it all along. Step up and put it down.

I don't think a 2nd round pick is terrible, but I don't think Matt Cassel will pan out in KC. I'll put it down right here, right now. And now I'll start praying I'm wrong.

Forget the trade. The only thing I want you to commit too is whether or not Cassel is a good or bad choice for QBOTF.

LOL! You think I'm dumb? You support this $15 mil back up QB who couldn't throw for 25 TDs with the exact same supporting cast with which Brady threw FIFTY????

Thigpen started 5 fewer games and had nearly the same stat line at probably $400,000 a year with a struggling, unexperienced offense. Cassell played on the NFL's most prolific offense EVAH. Hello? Who's dumb here?

Bottom line, even the 0-16 Detroit Lions passed on Matt "dang, I'm rich!" Cassell with Daunte Culpepper penciled in at QB for 2009.

Like Belichik is making some kind of mistake here. LOL!

If anything, Cassel's season goes to show how good Tom Brady really is. That offensive line looked pretty atrocious when you don't have a QB who is smarter than the defense.
Damage control. When 3rd string QB Mark Bulger filled in for Kurt Warner, he optimized the Rams' explosive offensive system. Cassel barely kept the engine running in NE. But please, anoint him, it makes my job easier.

Cassel = Derek Anderson without the gaudy stats.

If the Chiefs attempt Patriotization of their roster in 2009, you will see an average team between the 20s and a weak team in the RZ. Cassel is not Brady. At least Thiggy can run for 1st downs and score in the RZ with his legs. Sanchez would have been better than Cassel who had not started a game since high school until Tom "never missed a game in my career" Brady was taken out by the Chiefs.

You need to watch the highlight film of Cassel in one of these threads. Cassel is a damn good runner.

Everything is stats with you.

Everything.

You think you could understand an entire NFL season simply by looking at box scores.

Did you really think a guy, who hasn't started a game since HIGH SCHOOL, was going to come in and throw 50 TDs?

How do you know the Lions passed him up? Did the Patriots take the offer to the Lions and say beat it?

Absolutely not.

Has the military made you this ****ed up, or was this a birth defect?

The same KCJ who was pimping Jeff Terrell because of preseason stats?

How could you ever go against his evaluations?

There are several posters here that post takes that make me shake my head, this noob season has been really bad but they all still pale in comparison to the utter stupidity that is KcJohnny.

Marc Bulger threw 6 TDs in 7 games along with 14 interceptions.

Over a 15 game season, that translates to 15 TDs along with 29 picks.

Yeah, he really optimized that offense.

Please provide link. NFL.com says Bulger threw for 22 TDs in his first season starting with 3,845 yards and a 63% completion rate.

Thigpen threw for just as many TDs as Cassel with nowhere near as much experience and one of the NFL's worst offenses from 2007. Cassel inherited the NFL's MOST PROLIFIC OFFENSE EVER and his stats were almost identical to Thigpen's.

Go ahead and defend that, but please factor in that Thigpen is playing for the league minmum while Cassel will be paid 1/6th of the team's total salary cap.

Oh, so now you are going to swing it to the "first season starting"?

Bulger had a full training camp with the first team. He had the entire playbook available to him.

Cassel did not. McDaniels even said he simplified the offense so Cassel would be comfortable. The guy was thrown to the wolves in the first half of the first game when he hasn't started since high school.

I don't need to factor in salaries. They have no ****ing baring on performance. Everything is black and white with you. Salaries, box scores. There is more to the NFL than that.

I respect the military, but it scares the **** out of me that you actually train young people to prepare for combat.

It wouldn't surprise me if SensibleChiefsfan is some side lovechild that KCJohnny produced while on a tour somewhere in the 80s.
