Because this thread is constantly at the top of the page and the sports world wants to try and make me care by jamming Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese down my throat. So at the very least I'm getting comedic relief from all the Angel Reese clips popping up on my youtube of how talented of an athlete she is.

Valley cracked the Top 100 or 200 I forget of largest public high schools in the USA when I was in high school early 2000s. Huge school.

That is the old guard mentality because they haven't had the transcendant talent like Caitlin Clark until now. I agree that the WNBA for many years was on life support and tried to shame you into watching. But that isn't the case anymore. They are marketing the game today because they know growth is coming largely because of Clark. But also because the NIL has created marketable college athletes. Other women's sports do sell themselves. Tennis sells itself with a marketable talent like Serena. US women's soccer very much sells itself. The WNBA just hasn't had the same conditions to thrive before, but they do now if they can get out of their own way.

That doesn't mean they're going to ever come remotely close to NBA ratings. But like the MLS did it has potential to grow quite a lot. To a popularity that is respectable. That problem isn't unique. It took decades for the MLS to grow their brand and it took bringing in guys like Messi and Beckham to give it a bit more of an edge.

What's crazy is that when I was in HS, Waukee was in our conference. We were 2A.

Now they're the largest school in 4A.

Top tier tennis hos are very athletic. They can't be compared to whatever that lumbering mess is in that video. Funny though.

Then like any other sport or movie you don't like you can just choose not to participate. It's not an airport lounge where you have to announce your coming and going.

It is popular on cp because a lot of people love Iowa sports or because she's kind of a Midwest thing. It's popular in the media because she is drawing huge ratings and because these stories get clicks, not because they are desperately begging people to click. Look, I flat out don't get the wild popularity of e-gaming or all these stories about streamers and whatever goes on in that world. So I just scroll past it.

Laughter is the spice of life. I'm not scrolling past an Angel Reese clip when it pops up.

As I've said, I don't get the appeal of angel Reese and I think it's a huge disservice to the game that they keep trying to hype her up. She is really good at branding herself but she is Andre Drummond on the court yet she selfishly insists on being used like David robinson even though she sucks on offense. The first mistske is thinking angel is at all representative of women's basketball talent.

what I've seen is that the game has become dominated by post players and bully ball. So to some extent she fits in. There are legitimately good players like aja Wilson and Breanna Stewart that are super boring to watch. The game is so unrefereed physically that guard play isn't that exciting. The new guard are players like Clark, Paige bueckers, juju Watkins, arike ogunbowale that are legitimately good players and they are a major reason why the game is getting more marketable

The only threads hidden on my page are ones chosen by the mods. I couldn't care less about this thread being at the top of the page. I've simply injected some of the laugh factory that's popped up on my youtube recently into it.

I caught the 2nd half yesterday.
What can I say? I'm starved for some football.

Reese is painfully bad on offense. I watch that shit too for a good laugh.

We play trivia at a sports bar on Wednesday nights. They often have WNBA games on. Without even commenting on Clark or Reese, I can say without a doubt that I've never seen so many missed layups. It's not good basketball at all.

Are you racist if you cheer Angel Reese missing free throws? That’s all I could tell from watching replays online.

That is part of the evolution of the game. They play overly physical basketball so they got a bunch of Anthony masons there and not enough Jokic or Wemby. The guards are pure spot up shooters because it's too messy to drive in. At least thats just my observation watching some of it last year for the first time. So you've got angel Reese's out there who make a living out-physicalling everyone despite entirely lacking any kind of touch.

I think that is changing a lot. There are some dynamic guards including Clark who play fluid, which I think is way easier for the many like me who prefers the men's game. I think fluid is the best way to describe it because its cleaner and quicker movements instead of the herky jerky shit. If the game evolves into more finesse (and I'd have to think a big part of that is calling more fouls) I think you'll see a lot more finesse. It's a big reason why I think college has been popular but hasn't yet broken through yet in the WNBA.
