My favorite part of Ned is his complete inability to pull a pitcher when the game is getting away from him.... Heres a good example.

I was hoping for a 3-1 series win but will take 2-2 instead.

I'm not saying pull Davis from the rotation, he's got a long time to figure it out.

What I am saying is I hope Duffy and Paulino hurry back so Ned has options.

Ugh.....cant even get a ****ing base runner against a slumping pitcher for the last place team. Too many signs of last year (and the years before) showing up the past two days. Need to move on to new competition. AND ****ING DETROIT IS STILL AHEAD!

I know it's popular to rail on Ned, but look at the bigger picture.

This offense has one hit against one of the worst ERAs in baseball. Jimenez hasn't been worth a shit for 2 years and we act like we're going up against the Messiah.

I disagree. I don't believe it is clearly obvious to warm someone up at that point in the game.

The heat builds, they fire the manager, and the guy who is ACTUALLY important, the GM, gets to skate through 3 or 4 manager firings before people finally wake up and look at him.
There was no hindsight here. Everybody could see Wade didn't have it tonight, and Ned left him out to rot. He does this consistently, and it's tiresome. Not everyone is going to pitch 6 solid innings and give up less than three. When they're throwing meatballs, warm someone up.

Interesting analysis of Wade Davis' time in the pen vs. time in the rotation, and the importance of fastball velocity. I don't have his averages from this season, but it seems like he sits around 90. That won't get it done, and the link provides more detail.

Throw harder = success
