The 2021 WR draft isn’t going to be nearly as deep or as good.

So in this draft, the Chiefs could plan for letting Watkins and Robinson walk next year and having a third option ready to slide into place, while also taking advantage of the depth at that position and getting a better player than will likely be available to them next year.

The WRs available with the Chiefs’ second pick might not even make it to their first draft position next year (which is going to be 32 again).
There are some nice players in next years WR class, headed by Jamar Chase and Justyn Ross.

Think The Chiefs rather go LB and CB but that is going to be dependent on who is available. But will probably take a RB. Doubt it will be in the first, though could see them trading back. Chiefs last couple years have seemed to find decent backs later.

You mean the 1 back they found in Andy Reids entire tenure?

You simply are not gonna find a higher impact player for THIS team than Swift at 32 (or another one of the top RB's if you prefer.) I think Swift is a steal there. Georgia RB's are studs. We'd love him here.

(I really like the other RB's too. We got options! So much fun.)

Just my opinion

We did lose Ragland so we do need another LB'er pretty bad. But not first round bad. Hitchens and Wilson were playing well. As far as the secondary, the starters are returning. I'm feeling third round CB. Not to mention I really like Fenton. But losing Fuller certainly leaves a dent. Heck of a rotational player.

Yeah, just isn’t as deep, though the college season certainly could change that perception.

If Patrick Queen is there we can go LB,that's fine but there is going to be a ton of talent there to reach.

Yeah - the top end of a position in a draft isn't gonna matter for the Chiefs for a very long time.

Draft depth will be what determines the quality of our 1st rounder for awhile.

Queen is the dream. I'm not sure he makes it there, and honestly, I'd be just as happy - maybe happier? - with Gay in the 2nd or 3rd.

Today, my options would rank:

1. Queen (no chance)
2. Murray (no chance)
3. Fulton (very little chance)
4. Justin Jefferson (very little chance)
5. Jeff Gladney (decent chance)
6. Swift (good chance)
6. Dobbins (good chance)
7. AJ Epenesa (good chance)
8. Josh Jones (very little chance)
9. Cesar Ruiz (good chance)
10. AJ Terrell/Suggs (decent chance one is there)

Once you get past the first 5 options, I am with thinking about a trade down. You can probably get to 39 or so without really worrying about any of those teams taking the RB you'd take at 32.

We will let the draft and Brett Veach speak to this next week during the draft. I can all but gaurantee you we arent selecting a wide receiver early only to come and sit on the bench this year behind Hill/Watkins/Hardman to get ready to "slide into place" the following year.

We are likely Super Bowl favorites THIS year. Your early draft picks better damn well fill a need THIS year as well as the future. There is a time and place to build strictly for the future and this year ain't it! Need to draft accordingly.

Guess I was thinking of spending a third rounder on Hunt and signing Williams to a cheap FA contract. Seems to be a position they have filled with not expending a lot of assets.

But sure if you have a guaranteed Dalvin Cook/McCafferry setting there at 32 go for it.

But I am also not sure on all the projections that the back will step in and play a ton right away. The pass protection is the toughest to learn/adjustment to make and we are a passing team. Further point some of the key to the offense the last couple years has been that the RB not just being able to catch but run good routes. Which is not probably going to be something that happens right away. Why James White is still plays in passing situations ahead of all the RB's that NE keeps bringing in.

Wow. A surprisingly highly ranked talent could fall to us.

On the RB topic, I must add I like Mahomes TT buddy they just signed. Washington is the size of Thompson but the latter kind of play. Thompson is a grinder, Washington is a shifty-speedy scat back. Gonna be really interesting.

I remember what a big time play DJ was. We never replaced him. Patrick Queen at 32 would be a big time addition. The offense is set. I'm leaning towards D. (Mood swings lol)

Basically if your front office isn't smart or makes weird decisions or doesn't evaluate that great, bad draft incoming.
