Do you think the Chiefs were giving real interviews to other candidates in 2013? Hunt had his eyes on Reid so does that make him racist? I don't remember who they interviewed but I know they "satisfied" the Rooney Rule requirement before he was named the HC.
EXACTLY.

The Giants new GM is also from Buffalo. He probably knew Daboll was his guy before he even got the ****ing job, and it had absolutely nothing to do with race.

A requirement to interview does not lead to a requirement to hire a minority. Yes, some of these interviews are token interviews, but some of them are not and minority coaches have gotten hired. Even if someone is brought in to fulfill requirements for the Rooney Rule, an interviewee can still impress enough to be considered more seriously when there is another opening in that organization.
The rule punishes and rewards based on interviewing and hiring minorities. You can promote interviewing minority candidates but I'm not sure you can punish a team for not interviewing a minority candidate and I certainly don't think you can't reward a team for hiring a minority candidate. No one has pushed the issue yet but it will happen.

I wonder if Rich Bisaccia would be used as an example of racism if he were black. They hired a white HC instead too.

Since he’s not, people don’t give a ****.

Was he kind of treated unfairly? You could certainly argue that, but since he’s not black, nobody looks twice at it.

Players reportedly aren’t happy either. Didn’t really hear that about Flores. If anything, sounds like their young QB was relieved.

It’s never about the substance/context though. It’s all about narrative.

It's also possible this brings an end to the Rooney Rule as it likely violates the Civil Rights act of 1964 as it's currently practiced.

No, the creators of the rule were trying to appease the media and other groups to avoid being sued and look good.

Funny how judge by the content of character and not skin color is conveniently used and then discarded.

Well, like I said… barely. Asians make up 2% of nfl players. It’s not like there’s a long line of Asians gunning for coaching jobs.

Who now has a black GM. They also had two black coordinators in 2020.

They have no problem hiring black men in top positions.

Dumb franchises do dumb things.

There is a whole thread here complaining about how the Texans are run like a cult.

Detroit has like one playoff win in 60 years.

Kingsbury was a strange hire until you realize that they wanted a college coach with a college offense to pair with Murray.

They fired both Wilks and Rosen after one season. Both the JC and first round QB got the boot.
