His last few minutes were both very impressive and aggravating to watch at the same time. We all know he has hops, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen him jump as high as he did for that one rebound. It's been a pretty remarkable shift for a guy that I despised watching a little over a month ago. Other than Frank's resurgence over the last month to his November/December form (so much for the bogus narrative that he couldn't play well in the B12, eh), Landen's emergence is perhaps the biggest reason this team is on the way to winning #12 with another #1 seed.

You have to give Perry credit. They obviously ran a bunch of plays to get their guards to drive right into him and he shut them down every time, several times playing on the ball defense against a guard without help for long distances and plenty of time for the guards to break him down. That is really, REALLY difficult for a guy his size and lack of experience doing so. That was really impressive.

I don't disagree. But he had two rebounds in 36 minutes against a team that missed 39 shots. I have no idea how he managed to do that, but that's incredible. It can't be ignored just how much he was pushed around by their bigs tonight.

(Other than when he's having to guard Baylor's backcourt on the perimeter because our perimeter players ****ing suck defensively and we have to have our leading rebounder out there defending them because they suck so ****ing bad?)

Entirely a product of his playing time. Lucas is by far the team's best rebounder in 2015-2016, while both Cliff and Landen were better per minute than Perry in 2014-2015.

Just to illustrate...Perry's mediocre defensive rebounding rate (14.9%) this season is worse than Brannen Greene's (17.3%) and little better than Frank Mason's (12.5%).

I still have no idea what you saw in Frankamp. That kid can shoot and will eventually find a role at WSU in that role, but there's not much else there. Never was.

And I've been wrong about plenty this year. I thought KU was going to end up worse than OU for sure. Definitely did not see Spangler falling off a cliff and Lucas emerging like this. Am I wrong about this specific discussion, though? About Perry Ellis being soft and a poor defender? For the sake of this team's chances, I wish I was, but we have four years of evidence on that point. The guy's not changing.

Perhaps it's because he can roll off on guys like Ellis or Wiggins that he feels like he doesn't need top level point guards anymore. It's like he just stopped recruiting that guy and we're stuck with dudes like Tharpe, Mason and Graham.

Ellis gets the minutes because he's the team's best offensive player. That doesn't make him a good rebounder for his size. As mentioned, several KU guards have similar/better rebounding rates to him in 2015-2016, while Lucas totally outclasses him.

Worst backcourt of the Self era. It's like Self just doesn't even care about the position anymore. Perhaps it's because he can roll off on guys like Ellis or Wiggins that he feels like he doesn't need top level point guards anymore. It's like he just stopped recruiting that guy and we're stuck with dudes like Tharpe, Mason and Graham.

And Mason's better. Now up to #4 on KenPom's B12 player list (and #1 among PGs) despite being off his game/struggling with injury for half of conference season.

You could very easily make the argument that it is the best backcourt since Sherron/Tyshawn in 2010.
