**** You Thomas Edison, Tesla was the real Genius

I just finished watching "The Prestige" and it reignited my disdain for Thomas Edison.

Sure, he gave us the lightbulb, but Tesla gave us Alternate Current[AC]

Tesla also set up a system that gave us all free electricity, but it was thwarted and his funds were dried up by JP Morgan, and his lab destroyed... can't be giving away shit for free.

Edison was an insecure prick and most people don't realize this, because the history books were written by those who he was in favor with.

Tesla got hosed.

FYI: If you're interested in Tesla and this time period, Thomas Pynchon's new novel, Against the Day, is set within it. Tesla appears several times. The Tunguska event also plays a prominent role.

There was an excellent video TLC or THC did on Tesla. He was trying to protect Europe from ze germanz with some kind of electric death ray that no one believed he could make.

The Prestige was a pretty good movie, too. But I still like The Illusionist a bit better.

Wait a minute................Westinghouse was just as instrumental in the usage of AC as Tesla. It was Westinghouse that secured the contract for the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair.

Great...............Now you've gone and made me type my booklearning.

No, they couldn't. I believe the consequences of that encounter were covered by the popular movie series, "Back to the Future." Remember "Biff?"

This is actually the first time I've read "in depth" (if you can call it that) about Tesla (I did have their CD though). Seriously though...what a genious. Its good for him that he lived when he did because I'm guessing that, in today's world, it may be difficult to get permission to use the planet earth as a giant conductor for experiments.

When looking for a picture I see a bunch of webpages saying that Michaelangelo did not create the Swiss Guard uniform, but an official tour guide at the Vatican told us otherwise, and showed us quite a few comical inventions he came up with because he didn't like having to work for the church, but they paid the most. There were quite a few paintings and sculptures pointed out to us where there were priest looking at other mens junk, different people getting urinated on, and I think there was one sculpture of a pope or cardinal or some big kid a few feet above him in the process of dropping a Cleveland steamer on his head.

I am not saying that he wasn't a genius, but Tesla invented the AC generator in the 1880's, and AC hasn't changed much since then. give me one thing that DaVinci created that is used by a majority of the planet, and hasn't had to evolve far from the original invention in over 120 years?
