Anyone been to a Chiefs/Raiders game in Oakland before?

I'm going on the 21st of October. A lady I work with has season tickets and is giving them to me for free. Any tips? Bulletproof vests....helmets....

I really cant offer any advice better for attending an Oakland game in Oakland other than the advice of taking pictures of all the furloughed around you.

I did want to share my experience at Baltimore...I went sporting KC red -- my Omar Easy jersey -- just how valuable would he be today...but I digress.

The only time I got nervous was in the mens bathroom...they were much too fond of me in there.

I have gone to many Chiefs games in LA and Oakland (lived in Oakland for 10 years,) and I have never had more than verbal attention from Raider fans. I always wear Chiefs gear, and I always cheer very loudly.

I generally took BART to get there with the rest of the fans, but have parked there, too, in my truck with the Chiefs sticker on it. No problems.

Most of the verbal encounters are over quickly as I prove myself to know more about their team than they do. Most often, they start the argument with a "Chiefs effin suck!" and then you might reply with some actual information, which will get you a response of "Chiefs effin suck!." That repeats a few times and gets boring pretty quickly.

The funniest was the very well dressed guy on BART trying to tell me I was going to get killed in the bad neighborhood by the Col. in Oakland on my way home, then he was in the same train back too, and tripped out when I got out at the Fruitvale station, (still in the bad neighborhood.) I'm guessing he went home to Piedmont or something, ( a very nice neighborhood.)

Sheesh.... not this tired old bullshiet again. Every year there's red in the stands for the Chiefs game in Oaktown. Lookit any pic of the crowd & you'll see. A little good-natured ribbing... no more & no less than any other stadium. Don't let this fake legend thats bigger than life stop you from wearing your Chiefs gear.... this is Oakland, not L.A.... you're plenty safe. Don't be a pansy - its OK to be a Chiefs fan in the stands - LOTS OF PEOPLE DO IT!!!

Thank you.... but it seems that PlanetPeople would just prefer to believe the hype rather than the truth.

Man, you gotta wear the Chiefs gear. I went to the Chiefs/LA Raiders game many moons ago the week after the Raider fans beat a Steeler fan to death in the stands the week before.

I was totally decked out in Chiefly red and the Raiders were winning a close game the entire game. On the last possession, Steve F-ing DeBerg let our Chiefs to a game winning drive and we threw if back in the Raider fans.

BTW, during that game there were uniformed police up and down the aisles and the ROWS during the entire game.

Raiders blow. Fear not, wear your colors!

Funny how the USC Trojans play in the same coliseum and they never kill any bruin fans. But when the Raiders played here they beat the shit out of people a bunch of times.

No this was an afternoon game. One of our historians can recall the game. It was Deberg who led the final drive and toward the in which I sat for the game winning touchdown. As I recall there was no time left on the clock.

As an aside, I've been to a dozen visiting stadiums and ALWAYS worn the colors. The abuse is half the fun of it. I been to Oakland, Denver, San Diego, but the closest I ever got to blows was in Buffalo.

Hard head vs hard head.

Man up, Wear Red!

BTW, I've protected many a visiting fan from drunk Chiefs fans at Arrowhead (my business guests) wearing their colors on my encouragement !

Games in Oakland

How to have fun:

1. Wear Black
2. Cheer inside your head for the Chiefs while they defeat the raiders.
3. Pretend to cheer for Oakland.
4. When Oakland screws up, do the following:

Say:

'Damn, our team is fucking up again!!!!!!!'

Or

' Hey Man....the Chiefs are kicking our ass*s again!!!!!!!!!'

Or

' Holy Sh*t....we still suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

Or

'Why didn't we throw the fucking ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

The Raider fans turn on their own team VERY quickly.....by saying the above phrases, you're sort of 'planting a seed', the TRUE Raider fans will take over and start yelling at their own team...its hilarious!!!!!!!

As the game goes on everyone gets VERY DRUNK....you'll be glad you're wearing black...they get PISSED when they lose...I've witnessed them burning their OWN jerseys!!! Remember a couple of years ago when they were playing in Oakland on Monday Night FootBall? The chiefs stopped Tim Brown on the 1 inch line on 4th down? If he had scored, the Raiders would have won...there was no time left on the clock.
THEY WERE PISSED!!!!!!! It got ugly in the parking lot...burning jerseys, bottles flying, m-80s blowing off, cussing - HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
