Carl Peterson..Worst GM in Football History?

19 years with a total of 3 playoff wins and 0 SB appearences.

And the most pathetic part is that at the end of his run when he should of already put together a Pats like team, he is fielding the worst team in Chiefs history.

All I can say is ****ing wow!

The Chiefs made the playoffs twice during that period, losing both times.

The Lions didn't even come close.

During that time Carl Peterson made some boneheaded draft decisions, Ryan Sims and Junior Siavii, being the dumbest.

Neither of those even approaches the stupidity of first picking Joey Harrington, then three wide receivers in three consecutive years, only one of which panned out.

Carl Peterson is God awful, but he is no Matt Millen.

Didnt we lose to Detroit last year?

The fact that we're even feeling the need to make the comparison is all the proof necessary to can Peterson.

Dear Greatest Fans in the NFL:

It troubles me that you would list my good friend Matt Millen and me as "two of the worst GMs in the history of the NFL." Consider this:

1) Matt Millen has been in multiple superbowls. He started in every one of them.
2) Matt Millen's Lions beat your Kansas City Chiefs last year, which shows you his team is picking up momentum, especially since this was before our official rebuilding program began.
3) I am the Longest Tenured General Manager in Professional Sports. You don't just do that without making money for ownership. I make a profit. That is my mandate from the Hunt family. I make a profit, no matter what.
4) Detroit is almost in Canada. How do you expect Matt Millen to get good players when they can go across town and join the CFL? Have you seen the exchange rate lately? Brutal.
5) Ask any well traveled NFL executive. They will tell you, without reservation, that the nachos in Arrowhead are the cheesiest in the NFL, bar none. Now that's something as Chiefs fans we can all be proud of.
6) The Chiefs are $30 million under the salary cap, and I just ordered a new leather massage table for my office. So chew on that, critics. It's good to be the king.

I know the vast majority of our fans in KC will love us unconditionally, win or lose. Or lose. Or lose. Stadium renovations are coming along fine btw, thanks for asking. Great deals on 2009 Chiefs season tickets are available right now, and seats remain for single 2008 games. Why not buy eight or ten for your friends and family?

You are, and remain, the best fans in the NFL. Gotta go now, have to order the granite table tops for the new bar in my new office.

Your Pal,
Carl "Delano" Peterson

Well, it's not Carl's fault he hasn't been fired yet. I'm sure if you gave some other GM's 20 years the results wouldn't be very pretty either. Or maybe they would be. I don't know.

Carls main problem is that he has hung around 10 years too long.

If he had left in 1998 with Marty, we would all be talking about how great he was.

That's probably true. Not that he was the greatest GM of all time, or even close. But if you did just have that 10 year stretch, and retired... he would've probably been at least considered a solid GM. Not one of the all time greats or anything, but a guy who did better than most and just couldn't get over the hump.

Millen hasn't been there long enough to prove if he's better or worse than Carl.
