Chiefs NFL apologizes to Page - Page 3

Safety Jarrad Page said the NFL sent the Chiefs a letter acknowledging a mistake was made when Page was penalized for unnecessary roughness in last week’s loss to the Giants.

Page broke up a pass over the middle for wide receiver Steve Smith but was penalized for making helmet to helmet contact with Smith. Replays showed Page actually used his shoulder to hit Smith in the chest.

The Giants went on to score on a touchdown pass to Smith on the next play to take a 14-3 lead. They went on to win 27-16.

The league’s acknowledgment didn’t make Page feel any better.

"It doesn’t do us any good now," he said.

Pretty soon football isn't going to become a contact sport - this type of shit is ridiculous

Just like the booth handles the challenges inside 2 minutes the booth should be allowed at any time to challenge a penalty call that is obviously wrong

If you see the Sunday night football promo on NBC you'll see 3 hits in a row that were equal too or worse than the hit Pollard got flagged for.

The NFL sincerly apologizes for the penalty that was called on you during your recent game against the Giants.

The crew that called this game has been fined $15000 each and if it ever happens again, they will be asked to leave the league.

The NFL always strives to ensure fair play for all teams, and will promptly take action against any miscues in the future.

Having that said, us as viewers have a better look usually as to what happens because the situation is different. We watching TV or sitting in a seat in the stadium/arena.

They're in live play looking at a hundred different things going on on one time. How many refs are there in an NFL crew, 7? So I know that each one has their own job to do. I mean you all know the saying that holding occurs on just about every play, its just whether you do it so much and it's obvious to where you get cuaght. But having to make judgement calls in live play is harder than most people think.

I completely agree. To assure the correct call is made, the HC should have the right to challenge it.

My guess is yes. But the NFL doesnt advertise it. The do get graded, but they dont publish the grades of course.

Refs did exactly what the league wanted. Let the bigger market team survive and advance. Sorry about that, Chiefs fans. Nice job on the stadium renovation, though...
