Do We Have Enough To Make A Big Move?

I love what we are seeing out of our defense, which I think is the foundation to really turning a franchise around. Obviously, the QB play (and the WR play) are suspect to say the least. I still think, with our schedule, we're going to win the West this year. The team has a lot o fight in it and a couple good running backs. When the weather turns cold, good defenses and good running games will win you some close games.

If we follow this hypothetical, the Chiefs will be drafting towards the end of the draft with a glaring need at QB. At the very least, we would have to give up two first round picks and a third to get into a spot to draft a franchise caliber QB. At the very least.

Are you comfortable enough trading away those picks to get that opportunity or are there still too many areas where we need infusions of talent? Of course, depending how far one needs to trade up will dictate the actual price, so, if you're a draftnik type of person, how much would you trade to get the top QB next year?

I'd deal Cassel AND Jackson for him in a heartbeat.
Yeah, I think there are some similarities like the fact that both of them seem a bit gunshy at times, but I'd swap Cassel for Smith and give it a chance too.

One thing I hear on Sirius NFL Radio a lot is that the guy doesn't have swagger. He doesn't seem to show any kind of urgency. Good kid, but not the kind that will beat himself up over a loss. And then there's the question of if he's actually any good or if he's a product of the system.

Because apart from the strong arm part, he's basically Cassel. Good kid, smart kid, you want him to do well, but just not NFL starter material.

I don't.

Be prepared for Cassel or a similarly talented QB off the scrap heap in 2011.
I think you're the only one that's pushing this idea right now. I'll believe it when I see it. I just don't know why you're so stuck on the idea that this front office is that stubborn. Like I said before, they screwed up by bringing in Cassel. But it's not like 2010 gave them a lot of insurance options if you're talking about a QBOTF.

Pioli has a reputation for being cheap. Both in NE and KC. I don't see any reason why we would expect him to fork over a huge roster bonus just to save face.

I think the chances of the Chiefs drafting a QB in the first round in 2011 are quite a bit less than 50/50. I wouldn't say it won't happen, but I don't think it's very likely.
