Who's expendable from the likely 53 man roster?

The free agent frenzy is over.
The draft is over.

So now have a better idea of what the 2019 Chiefs will look like, let's see who's on the roster that COULD be spun for other players or future picks.

Now the key to this exercise is that the player has to have real value. Reggie Ragland isn't going to fetch us anything.

So who do you got?

Daniel Sorensen - 29 years old, two years left on his deal at 3.6 million per.

Breeland Speaks - 23 years old, three years left on his rookie deal. Yeah I know he's more of a natural fit in the 4-3, but after looking at the draft, adding Clark and a couple other DEs, I don't see expanded playing time on the horizon. Probably our most desirable asset to move, but someone has to want him.

Tanoh Kpassagnon - 24 years old, same situation with Speaks if we are being honest. Two years left on his deal.

We're up to 10 defensive linemen I think, 5 DE (Clark, Okafor, Speaks, Ogbah, Tanoh) and 5 DT (Jones, Nnadi, Saunders, Williams, Hamilton).

I could see DE's getting play time at DT on pass rushing downs, so I think Hamilton is maybe destined for the practice squad. Tanoh probably gets cut or traded if you only want 8 linemen.

I’m a Kemp fan based on where he went to school, so I hope you’re correct but he’s been that size since he got here and it’s netted him all of 2 targets.

Wonder how many LB we can carry on the 53 as well. We currently have Hitchens, Ragland, O'Daniel, Wilson, Attaochu, Nieman and now Johnson as a UDFA. Maybe Ragland and Nieman get chopped?

I heard a scout on 810, forgot who (Eager I'm pretty sure) who said Ragland will have a role in the scheme that they put together rushing the passer in the 1/2 gaps and if so I'm interested in that.

Also I'll be pissed if Nieman gets chopped.

Also Eager said a lot of really stupid shit after that and I unfollowed him on twitter after the interview.

Kpass played worse at OLB than Speaks in Sutton's 3-4 front. Neither should have played a single down at OLB in a 3-4 front. Neither should be dismissed without seeing how they play in a 4-3 front. By all accounts, Kpass at least fits the mold of a Spags DE with his size, strength, length, and speed.

Sorensen plays above his pay. Decent value. Keep him.

Speaks has been shit so far. Nobody will give up picks for him. Rags won’t be missed. KPass wouldn’t be missed, either.

We don't need to cut anyone for salary reasons anymore, just roster reasons. I don't think guys like Sorenson or Colquitt need to be discussed anymore just because people think 3 million is important still.

That’s where I’m at, at least give him the chance to compete in camp

The measureables are there, let’s see what the new staff can do with him

Spun for a draft pick? I doubt any of them.

Best guesses...

Tanoh - I'd like to see what he has with his hand in the dirt but if a team offered something worthwhile, sayonara.

Ragland - Doesn't fit at all in a 4-3 so maybe you can ship him to a 3-4 team in need of a thumper for a bag of chips

Darrell Williams - if a team is looking for a power back that didn't get one in this deep draft

Sorensens money isn't the issue, it's that he's a scrub and paid much better than a scrub.
