Which CB, other than PP, is Veach going to trade for?

It seems very probable that Veach is going to trade for a CB before the season starts.

Who do you think is a realistic option and Veach is going to trade for? Who would you prefer?

I would think a trade with the Vikings is likely as they look to have 5 starting CBs on their roster right now. So Rhodes? Waynes?

I'm actually pretty excited about that defense. There is only the CB position to sort out really.

I know it's been discussed some in the PP thread by the way.

Minnesota Vikings could be a potential trade partner because they are up against a cap space problem both for 2019 and 2020. A week ago the Vikings only had $1 M of cap space but some recent contract changes now shows the Vikings with $5 M of cap space. Mike Hughes is trying to recover from a torn ACL injury and Holton Hill has been suspended for 4 games. Not having these two players might make Minnesota more likely to wait until a few games into season to make a trade.

• 20 Mackensie Alexander CB 25 years old with 1 year left on contract for $1,373,370.
• 49 Terrence Alexander CB
• 38 Kris Boyd CB
• 24 Holton Hill CB
• 21 Mike Hughes CB
• 36 Craig James CB
• 44 Nate Meadors CB
• 29 Xavier Rhodes CB – 28 years old, 4 years on contract at $13,337,500, $12,900,000, $14,150.000,and $13,850,000
• 34 Duke Thomas CB
• 26 Trae Waynes CB 26 years old with 1 year left on contract for $9,069,000

Not a trade partner but a possible CB pickup for Chiefs.

Pittsburgh Steelers
• 29 Brian Allen CB
• 25 Artie Burns CB 24 years old, 1 year contract with $956.862 base but Steelers could save $1,757.862 with cut.
• 23 Joe Haden CB
• 28 Mike Hilton CB
• 38 Kameron Kelly CB
• 31 Justin Layne CB
• 33 Alexander Myres CB
• 22 Steven Nelson CB
• 20 Cameron Sutton CB
• 35 Herb Waters CB

If the Pittsburgh Steelers (Only $1 M Cap Space) were to release Artie Burns, he could be a possibility. He is only 24 years old and could compete for playing time with this secondary. Burns is due $800,000 if Steelers keep him when training camp starts on July 26th.

We don't have an abundance of proven WR.

we can't afford to lose Hill
Watkins is still an injury concern
We aren't trading Hardman
I doubt Robinson or Pringle has significant value

The rest of our WRs aren't worth much yet.

Dieter, Gehrig
Grayson, Davon
Custis, Jamal
Thompson, Cody
Kemp, Marcus
Davis III, Felton
Davis, Rashard
Forson, Joe

So which WR will bring us significant CB talent without handicapping our offense?

Patrick Peterson trade with Cardinals might happen a few games into the season.

Cards schedule of first six games Lions, Ravens, Panthers, Seahawks, Bengals, and Falcons.

Dependent on how those games go while Peterson serves his suspension might affect a possible trade.

Cards then play Giants and Saints. The Saints game would be October 27th which is two days before the NFL trade deadline of October 29th.

So as others have said, it's possible we start the season with what we have at CB with a possibility of a trade during the season.

We don't have WR depth and value that would allow us to trade for a good CB.

I agree, especially if Kelce gets hurt. We need Hardman to be productive his 1st season.

According to incoming reports, we're very much headed to having an abundance of WR talent and I'll be ****ed if we're carrying 10 Receivers into the season. We're at a point where our projected #4 could handle #2 duties with ease on a less talented roster and we WILL use that to pull a CB trade.

Thanks, Wilson8. Good stuff! Maybe add Jalen Ramsey and Jacksonville to the list?

Guys I’d be interested in...

Hilton Hill
Trae Wayne
Rasul Douglas
Sidney Jones
Jalen Ramsey
Patrick Peterson
Xavier Rhodes

_______
Fuller
Breeland
Ward
Fields
Reasor

My preference is obviously a fully elite guy like PP or Ramsey, but I’d gladly take any of those guys.

Mahomes is going to get a lot of guys promoted and priced out of town.

Like Ray Lewis in Baltimore, or Peyton everywhere he went.

I’m not sure the WRs have increased value yet, but they will.

Fuller is good.

Breeland you hope he can stay healthy and then hope he can be good. That guy was signed for cheaper than Jason "made of glass" Verrett. Think about that for a second.

Ward looks like he could be decent but that's again hoping.

Keenan Allen as far as I'm concerned is absolutely right laughing at that group of CBs.

Now you add a good one and it looks like a solid group.
Breeland was going to get paid big money and actually had that contract offer to him until his foot problem showed up, so yes he was considered a quality starting Corner. He looked like that corner to and Green Bay last year. 2 INT’s, 4 passes defended and a return TD in only five game started? This guy is a starting caliber corner and he’s proven it.

I’m proud of Veach for not going full reerun in the draft and trading way up into the early second for a corner because honestly I thought there was a strong chance he would’ve done that.

Keep an eye on Peterson and both corners in Minnesota, but don’t get butt ****ed into giving up too much for one of those guys.

It’s ridiculous to say the position will ruin our season as if we are the only team that has that situation. Literally every team in the league has a position where you could say that.

I would love Ramsey, but his comments about getting paid make me pretty leery you could actually make that work.
