The "I just got back from the gym" and this is what I have eaten thread.

Okay, so there are a ton of guys in here that are working out, trying to work out, or 'thinking' about working out.

So, I figured I would start a thread. I am all about making myself accountable. The more people that I tell about working out, the more people I would let down by not going.

If you go to the gym.... then post here when you get back. If you do P90X, post here when you get done. If you ride the excercise bike.... post it here.

Anything you do to get in shape.... share with the board. I know I have gotten some great advice and feedback.

Also, post what you eat. If you post everything you eat, and you know others will be critical, you may think twice before you grab a Twinkie.

Okay, so, I went to the gym. I did five minutes on the cross climber to warm up. I stretched for about three minutes.

Then, I did three sets of squats with just 135. I did back extensions and hanging leg lifts. Three sets each. I did leg curls, calf extensions, abductor and adductor excercises as well.

On my leg day, I do very light chest exercises to work on my explosive power. I do three sets of six pushups as explosively as I can. I throw the excercise ball up like a chest pass while laying on the bench.

Then, I finished off my workout with 30 minutes on the eliptical.

As far as my diet.

Breakfast two pieces of peanut butter whole wheat toast, protein shake, and banana.

I have had another banana, two yogurts, and a handful of cashews as snacks.

I didn't have a 'lunch' per se.

Kids had sloppy joes with lean beef (as if that makes it great).... I took a baked potato, and put a serving of sloppy joe over it, with jalapenos and 2 oz's of lowfat cheddar cheese.

I have also had shotgun with water, and synthesize with water.

I won't eat again before bed.


Okay, I know putting everything down here will open me up to criticism. I know some will think that I am doing things all wrong. I appreciate any advice, but I have done a lot of reading and talking to trainers.... so, I have an idea of what I am doing.... or at least what I think I am doing.

The point of this thread, isn't to get into pissing matches about how to do things.... but rather to give ourselves a gold star for making an effort.

Try not to beat anyone down on this thread, because this is about encouragement.

Do unprocessed foods really help you get stronger and bigger more quickly or help you lose weight more quickly than processed foods?

If caloric intake is the same? Or is it more of just a general health issue?

Tonight, I did 25 minutes at 150 heart rate and then went to the bar and had 13 beers (carbo-loading), danced a bit (because the band was funky as all hell), made out with the bar maid in her car (at least 250 calories working around her Japanese bucket seat configuration), came home and did 100 situps, plus a couple of treks up and down the stairs...and then had a handful of peanuts for my protein.

If we are talking strictly muscle building carbs/protein not so much, depends on which processed food really. A lot of processed food is just empty calories so in that ase it would make a huge difference. In this case there are a lot of toxic substances in canned soup and they vary. MSG is horrible for you and food processors have labeled it differently to keep you from knowing it is in there. It is a a flavor enhancer so you can see why they would use it.

GoChiefs,

I thought you were serious about making some real changes to look and feel better and maybe even get laid. Right now you are in the physical prime of your life. Your body is a fat burning muscle building machine. Every effort you put in at this age pays huge dividends. The time you spend working out and making sure you eat the right foods will all come back to you as you will be leaner with a high oxygen content in your blood and your body will not have to be constantly cleansing itself of the toxic shit you keep sticking in it. For a guy who is so obsessed with getting laid and spends endless hours on the internet I would think that putting a little time in this area would make sense to you. Having been in the health club industry for most of my life I can assure you that even the goofy/ugly dudes who get this area of their life down pull quality tail. If that is what you want just do it. If all you want is to lose a little fat so you look better spanking it in the mirror join Jenny Craig and just be a jacuzzi baby.

Well, yesterday was my day off. I hated it. I actually just started doing pushups.... just because. Today, is back and biceps. I am hoping to get in to the gym early. I hate being rushed to try to squeeze everything in. Especially, since inevitably, someone is on the machines I need to get on.

So far today, I have had a protein shake, a banana, a double plate at Panda Express from the wok smart menu.

I am trying to drop 10lbs before spring break. That means, I have to have a 714 calorie deficit per day until April 1st to be where I want.
