Is everyone forgetting what it was like this year BEFORE Thigpen?

Game ----- Pts , Opp, Def Rank

1st game - 10 pts @ Pats, 9th
2nd game - 8 pts Raiders, 23rd
3rd game - 14 pts @Atlanta, 11th
4th game - 33 pts Broncos, 27th
5th game - 0 pts panthers, 3rd
6th game - 10pts titans, 1st

12.5 ppg, 12.3 def avg rk

it looked like we would never score 100 pts this season

Thigpen becomes starter

7th game - 24 pts @jets, 16th
8th game - 27 pts buccs, 4th
9th game - 19 pts @chargers, 19th
10th game - 20 pts saints, 24th
11th game - 30 pts buffalo, 14th

24 ppg, 15 def avg rk

not bad for a guy who has only started 5 games in his life and who didn't face top competition in college.

Atlanta was a "bad day."

Sure, compared to the last 4 games, today was a step back. But even then, it's not like he had more turnovers than TD's.

The kid is basically a rookie 7th round pick from Coastal Carolina, and over a 16 game schedule, his stats would put him on pace for a 3500 yard, 32 TD/16 INT season.

Even seasoned QB's have rough games.

Cut the kid some ****ing slack.
BUT, BUT, BUT, he's no stafford

He's no Matt Ryan either - the board's man-crush.

Oh, wait.

Matt Ryan's projected stats for the season?

3440 yards, 18 TD, 10 INT.

But the difference?

Thigpen is in a gimmick offense.

Before someone takes this and twists the **** out of it, I'm not saying that Thigpen is absolutely the QBOTF.

But you can't discount what he's done. Even with that horrible Atlanta game, his stats are still phenomenal for a 7th round, small school QB.

Well I can say Jarrad Page is good for a 7th round pick too that doesn't mean he's as good as he needs to be to be a starter in the league though.

Who's been better at their position thus far?

Thigpen hasn't been playing NFL starting calibur football?

Only in Mecca's eyes could a guy project to 3500 yards, 32 TD's and 16 INT's over a full season, and he say he's not good enough.

Shit, at the beginning of the year, people were saying they'd be happy with Croyle throwing for between 2000-2500, and a 1/1 TD/INT ratio.

Thigpen is out-playing Mecca's man-crush on a per-game basis, and it pisses him off.

And Thigpen's doing it with little/no help.

Michael Turner ran for one fewer TD TODAY than we have as a team the entire SEASON.

No one thought the Chiefs were going to put the ball in the air 30+ times a game either...

What happens if he goes back to sucking like numerous other guys that were good for brief periods did, we get caught with our pants down? It's not like he's blowing the doors off here winning games and being awesome he's playing better than what we had and like a middle of the pack QB.
